Thats the thing, the team would miss him this year.T

Really? Without those 7 catches where would we be?

Oh yeah, right where we are.

He blocks about as well as Witten and is a bigger threat than Phillips. Plugging Phillios in mid-season would be hard.

Im all for revisiting in April b/c were hurting at OL and FS.

MartyB was on his show on the Ticket with Bob & Dan yesterday. He said after the game he talked with Jerry Jones, asking him if the trade rumors were true. MartyB said Jerry told him that there definitely was a serious inquiry, but that Jerry stopped them before even hearing what they were offering in return (which seems a little crazy to me though).

If that were true, no one outside of the Bengals can tell what they were going to offer. Whether Jerry speaks the truth or not is always up for discussion.

Bennett and the 2-TE set is too important to this team for that trade to take place...If we had a clear #1 receiver and a stronger receiving corps behind him that'd change the story.

Can someone please tell Madden 10 that this deal is plausible?

Kidding, of course.

...A little..

I don't think it was for a first to be honest.

Also, please consider that TE's are not drafted very high and you could pick a good one up for relatively cheap.

I haven't read the entire thread but if true, I would have taken the first round pick.

If we weren't in a position to make the playoffs, I would do the trade. Bennett being the lead TE would probably flurish and would be well woth a #1 by another team.

I would have done it, but I would have asked for their 2011 1st round pick instead

This has likely been covered... but what is the goal with a first round pick?

It should be to get a young, talented player who you think will help the team.

What is Bennett? A young, talented player who is already helping the team.

You make the trade, you're taking a step back in that you could potentially draft a bust (Carpenter, etc)... and you'd have to find another TE anyway.

You would have to find another 2nd string TE, who is never going to have the true impact of a #1 pick with Witten on the team.

The team likes Phillips blocking as well, and he's had almost as much impact on the passing game anyway. Picking up a 3rd string TE who can block off the streets wouldn't be that hard for this season, and there is a lot we can do with that pick next year to address some much bigger need areas than 2nd TE.

The goal would be a Franchise LT in the next draft. We would be in a position, with two 1st to move up and take a very good LT. I think it's pretty well accepted that Flo is on his last legs for us. We will have to replace him very soon. If we don't have that guy on our team, we will have to get him. I believe this would be the popular thinking behind this trade. At worst, you probably get a heck of a FS.

Think about it guys, two 1st rounders equals big money that the boys can't afford right now. Ware's deal and Austin's extension/new contract are gonna eat the cap alive.

JJ has plenty of money. Right now there is no cap next season.

Not enough... We payed a 2nd for him and hes grooming under Jasom Whinton.

Bengals are 5-2 -> projecting late first and who knows about next years draft and draft pick value

Exact!

No way i give Bennett away for a low to midround first round pick. This guy has the potential to be a beast. And just because romo doesn't look for him doesn't mean he not already has high first round value right now.

I'd say a mid first and a mid 2nd and we can start talking (not to say we'll settle there).
