I'd be happy if he is available the second week of January.

I doubt it, Hawkeye. Fish just reported on The Fan that there is no timetable for his return, if at all.

Of course Fish also reported Jaylon Smith would not see the field this season. We all know he will play. ;)

10 days between Minny and the game in NY. I think there may be a chance for him as his original prognosis was 4-6 weeks, and that would be right at the 6 week mark for Mo.

If he does't make it-- no big deal. We soldier on w/o him.

I really hope he can be back by playoff time. We're really kind of in a bind. We don't know how long he's out for, so we can't IR him and go out and pick someone up soon. But if it comes out later that he won't be back, then that gives very little time for anyone that we could pick up to get their feet under them.

When you say 'might not make any difference,' are you saying the fibrous union might be sufficient? Or neither might be?

And are we in a comfortable time horizon here of 4-9 weeks for adequate healing for something as nasty-sounding as this is? With Mo, I'm concerned both that he won't heal fast enough with a soft tissue injury, and that, if he has to come back while still compromised, that it'll mess with his head a bit. The reporting of this whole thing has made me cringe from the get-go. I hate being depending on soft (sorry, Mo) players at positions of significant need.
This. Mo seems to be one of those that everything has to be perfect physically before he fully mentally commits or engages in play. When he was nicked up a few seasons ago, he just seemed hesitant to fully play his position. In a contract year no less, he may even be more apt to hold off from major contact for the long run contract which was to come this year.
He started out great this year, better than I ever imagined. I just hope this does not set him too far back mentally as well as physically.

He might have to be a package sub when he is ready. After reading your post, I wonder what his confidence will be like. We have already seen how tentative Scandrick was those first few games back from his latest injuries. He actually seemed to play with a little more confidence against the Skins but he is still not back 100%.

Stephen Jones was on the fan today and it didn't sound like he is coming back anytime soon. In fact listening to him he said after a pause "sure we might see him again in the regular season"

Didn't sound like he is playing for a long time.
well there's only 4 more weeks in the regular season so if Stephen said we'll see him again that's not a long time.
