Don't spread this around, but . . . I hear that, when at the Zone, if you don't like a post or thread, you really, really don't have to read it.
If you don't like the topic, you don't have to read it. And if you read it but don't like the post/thread, you really, really don't have to respond to it.
anyway, that is the scuttlebutt. I'll get back to you when i hear more.

I would rather have Drew Bledsoe than Johnson as a backup. I still ask why not Harrington he was good with the Dolphins last year.

No he wasn't. He had the one good game against Detroit, but was bad the rest of the time.

They tire easily of the quarterback issue. They say it's been beaten to death. They think it's been "solved". I say it's still a vital topic, especially with the draft coming up. We need to cover ourselves in the event that Romo doesn't pan out for whatever reason.

All I've got to say is we need to draft a good one. Suggestion/hint: John Beck---BYU.

*sigh*

I'm going to make one futile last ditch attempt to drum this into your skull.

If Romo goes down for the year, the season is done. We know it. The front office knows it. There was no one out there who has relegated themselves to the backup role who would have made any difference in that regard.

We may indeed draft a rook QB, but I got news for you... Even if it is John Beck, if Romo goes down for the year, the season is STILL DONE!! There is no "covering ourselves" if Romo isn't the answer or gets injured this year. None. The sooner you realize that, the sooner you can get over your little QB fetish.

I have seen Brad Johnson play and I know he can do the job if called on. Dallas has very good talent around him and he is savvy enough to know how to use the weapons at his disposal.

Good lord, can you slander a guy any worse then Johnson has been slandered on this board? "I'm not hear to be a mentor."

"I never agreed with that terminology – that term mentor," said Johnson, who signed a three-year deal worth $7.5 million to be the backup quarterback. "Obviously, Tony has [been in the] league four years and had a very good year last year. He has the experience to run with and a year that he can feed off some confidence coming off that year."

"I want to see [Romo] succeed and I want to see the Cowboys succeed," said Johnson, who broke into the league in 1992. "But I'm not here for my health. My big thing is to be prepared in case something happens. I have to learn the system and, more importantly, get familiar with the players on the team and make it comfortable for everyone."

"I had a very good connection with Jason Garrett coming in there as a coordinator," Johnson said. "I had a past with Ray Sherman, and I just thought it was a great fit more than anything else."

Think you could try a little harder to stir up a **** Storm there fellas?

I just think Trent Green is a playoff caliber QB.
That statement is incorrect. Green is done. The Chefs want to unload his $7+ mil contract because that is to much to pay a backup. Trust me I live up here and hear the news every day. The Chef fans can't wait for the day he is gone. That hit he took last year unoffically ended his career. Now he is just hanging on for a weekly payday. Honestly he should retire before he takes another shot to the head.

Maybe so:( What the heck is Brad's deal? Is he just to proud to school the youngster? I guess I admire the fact that he still has some fire, maybe that's best. Lead by example...:starspin

Cleveland and Miami aren't interested in bringing Green in to be a back up. They want him as a starter. Trent Green is still seen as a starter and not a back up.

Would Green be an upgrade over Johnson just from a talent standpoint? Maybe, but for this arguement I will say yes. That isn't the real question that needs to be asked.

Would Green accept a role as a backup? Doubtful. Or should Dallas compete with other teams looking to sign Green as a starter? No. The Browns and Dolphins will offer more because they are looking for a starter. Dallas does not need to outbid other teams to sign a back up.

Something to also consider is that Green may not be as good as he used to be. He didn't look good last season after returning from his concussion. In fact, he looked poor. He may be done.

Better QB or better backup QB? They really are two different positions and mind sets.

Well laid out arguments and points.

Still, Green or Johnson. Duh.

But I understand the money Green would want vs. Bradley just wanting a payday.

I don't get your question. Or is it a statement?

use the ? for a question. use the period and a clear affirmative if you are making a statement.

Now, then. Who said Green (if you intended a question) did not want to get paid?

L A R G E! Great post guy and even a better reply to Bobby S who loves to throw his hat into any discussion that allows him to attempt to dismiss a topic he does not deem appropriate. LOL.
Guys like you are the straw that stirs the drink around here. Keep providing your honest opinions to the topics of the day ole buddy.
BTW, I'm with you 100% when it comes to your views on the old, long tooth Brad Johnson. We could/should have done much better.

Agreed. Green, Harrington, Carr all have more long term upside than the tired arm Bradford. Gosh help us if he actually has to go in and start a few games. Troubling thought IMO.

Pound sand tough guy. I could give a rip what the likes of you thinks. LOL. Your contributions around here are minimal at best. I suggest you worry about your own popularity. Believe us, there is plenty there to keep you busy.
Note, I did nothing to provoke your obnoxious reply to me. Scram.

lol, I add, at times, humor, which is more than the two of you ever acheive. But you avoided the question. I have been on a ton of forums in my day and not once seen the LOL. shtick. Yet the two of you have it, and seem to respond to the questions of whether you are the same person the same way everytime. You both also respond to each others threads every time with out exception. If you don't know each other then its odd regardless.Oh and this is the internet, I don't care about being cool here. In the real world I have an ex wife to let me know I am a loser, everything else I hear is just theory.
