Could be the Stephen and Garrett combo...fun to watch!
I honestly think Jerry defers on field to Garrett. I think he deferred to Wade as well. Jerry makes a lot of comments but I think many of the comments come out the meetings he attends with the coaches. Clearly acquiring players he is going to have a say and I think much of that is based on information from scouts, coaches and Stephen. I don't think Jerry is trying to be a 1 man show.
Because he is GM I don't remove any blame from him, it goes with the job. Just based on comments from past coaches I think Jerry gives the HC freedom to make the calls on the field without interfering
I remember the Dunbar fiasco, Jerry and Stephen saying they need to see more of him on the field and in the offense and shortly thereafter there he is accordingly.
I have no idea how those dynamics work but I do see Stephen becoming more chummy with Garrett in recent years, perhaps there is more trust there now.
I agree to a certain extent. However in all Jerry's interviews, have you ever heard him answer, "I don't know or I'll have to check with the staff"? Jerry always has an answer whether its true or he understands it or not he'll never defer to anyone else. Now does he do it in meetings and war rooms, I think so. He'll never do it in the public eye as a sign of weakness. Not saying it's wrong or right, just who he is.I honestly think Jerry defers on field to Garrett. I think he deferred to Wade as well. I recall Garrett being high on Dunbar and still is. I think the kid has talent but just can't stay off the injury list.
I certainly appreciate all of your accomplishments and expertise on this subject.First off, this isn't the first rodeo that many of us have been on the Cowboys wagon since they came into existence. I was a College player at the US Air Force Academy, with Ben Martin, who replaced Bill Parcells as the head coach there.
I played, after my first season, at Texas A&I, due to not being pilot qualified, (glasses), and going back to a civilian school.
I have been through four Basics, during my military career, as well as receiving certification and the job of Master Fitness Training while in the Army.
I am well acquainted with the training and conditioning effect to team work...but there is more to the storyline than showing up for game three in the Exhibition Games.
Bill Parcells, for the record, had a standard that all are required to make showing of being able to handle their job slot. But that didn't also mandate periods of rehab for certain players. He was flexible and tried to protect his own players as well.
To the point, if Zeke Elliott shows up in two to three series in this Thursday game...and possibly a quarter in the 4th, fans would watch their 'prized' player to their satisfaction...but I'm not labeling any of the developments as foolish or stupid, for Jason Garrett or Jerry Jones. That's just where facts actually sit.
As a business man love Jerry love what he has done for the NFL.
As an owner he is great
As a GM Jerry time to ****.
Even if he orders the coach to keep a player out he should keep it inside his office.
Jerry's quote was before the Garrett press conference today that confirmed he would play. Jerry likely did not see the game plan before his interview, so was not sure if Zeke would play or not.
Agreed! If Zeke doesn't play then JG needs to go
They are going to have to widen the doors at the new death star once Jerry is add to the HOF in Canton just to fit his head and ego.
Yup.If RBs getting injured so frequently was a big concern, then they shouldn't have used the 4th pick on a RB.
In fact, that was an argument made by numerous people here before the draft. That given the injury situations regarding TBs, using the 4th pick on one probably wasn't a wise use of that pick.
And yet here we are, people saying you gotta be careful with TBs because they get hurt a lot. You just can't make this stuff up.
