Wade Phillips doesn't even have the title of assistant head coach.

HoustonFrog;4892147 said:No, that is the reality of it and what their own fans think of it too. He drafts for their D and was brought in by the owner to save Kubiak's butt. I was there and heard all the media reports daily. It was hire Wade or bye-bye.

HoustonFrog;4892155 said:And he was forced upon them and told to run that part of the team and do what he needed to do. The Kubiak story isn't one that needs to be followed. End of Story!Heck I've spent more time on their board seeing what their take of the team is than here. Go read it yourself.

Coach is 11-2. 11 wins are in spite of him but 2 losses are on him. Great rationale. Ever think there's a personnel mismatch against QBs like Brady and Rodgers? They make many teams look bad.
Bradie James on Hernandez? We've seen 1st hand that's a bad idea,

If Garrett were to get fired today, do you really think he would get one head coaching interview in the NFL this year based on his record and/or potential? Hard to name even one team who would even consider him.
The answer is very clear and speaks volumes about Garrett as a head coach.
rcaldw;4892168 said:I'll make a prediction. If Garrett gets fired here IMMEDIATELY after the season, he will be a head coach somewhere else in the NFL next year.
I don't think he's getting fired though. And I'm glad.
rcaldw;4891055 said:There are a few things I want to say about this. And I know that my comments will be interpreted by many as simply reflecting my "blind" support of Jason Garrett. I prefer to think it reflects a whole bunch of years of watching and supporting this team, and hopefully a little bit of football knowledge.
1. If this report is true it enrages me. And it has nothing to do with Garrett. It would have to do with an owner who doesn't have a clue. Wouldn't it be better, even if you are considering a change, to let the season get finished? The team has won 4 of 5, just had a huge emotional win and actually is making a bit of a run despite an overwhelming number of injuries. Show some respect.
2. Regardless of whether or not this is true, I have felt that Jones is trying to put pressure on Garrett after some early season disappointments. Fair enough. Except what Jones doesn't seem to realize is that I don't think Garrett is the type of guy who cares about that. I think he works hard and gives it his best regardless. It is only having an effect in Jerry's world.
3. If this is not true, then this is the last thing we need at this time in the season and Jones needs to come out and shoot it down in the strongest possible terms.
4. I personally believe that if it is true, it is one of the most stupid football decisions I've ever witnessed. Again, I already know how the anti-Garrett crowd will interpret my perspective, I can't help that, I'm just being honest about what I see. I am among those who DO think the culture is changing in Dallas (I think yesterday was an evidence of it).

Would you be against JJ taking a look to see if there are better 3rd CBs than Scandrick? Or there are a better centers than Costa?
Hypothetically, if we have a chance to get Tom Brady to replace Romo, would you be upset at JJ for looking into the possibility? I won't be and I think Romo is one of the last player that need to be replaced.
Doomsday101;4892175 said:Sorry but I don't see rumors being an issue nor is it something Jones needs to address one way or the other. Garrett like any coach knows their jobs depend on them winning. Jerry is giving Garrett the room and say so to run this team it is up to the staff and players to go out and win.
For all the crud Jerry takes the fact is he is getting players coaches want and allowing them to do their jobs that is what I want from jerry or any GM we may ever hire is to get the HC, allow them the room to do the job and he is doing it so enough already. It like this crap with Free and Parnell, Jerry is not telling Garrett who to play or not it is a coaching decision and that is where it is being made. It is easy to blame Jerry for everything under the sun but after a while the criticism becomes a joke and not even well thought out
Howardlittleton64;4892176 said:Mr. Jones is at least 50% of the problem. A new coach will come in with one hand tied behind his back by the owner/GM. Things won't get better until Mr. Jones hires a real GM and steps away from football operations completely.
CATCH17;4892164 said:Oh no! You're turning into one of them! Don't do it man!
rcaldw;4892161 said:Exactly! You are getting your info off a fan message board.
Howardlittleton64;4892179 said:The problem is he doesn't. Mr. Jones deserves, no he earns the crap he is given.
Idgit;4892041 said:It's not so obvious this season. At least when compared to everyone else in the division. There are more experienced coaches with better starting talent than the Cowboys right now sitting in the same leaky boat Jason Garrett is sitting in.
Zman5;4893803 said:We've been at .500 or below most of the season. That's pretty average to me.
And just because other coaches in our division are doing average doesn't make JG a better coach.
Idgit;4893819 said:Of course context matters. Every team in the division plays a similar schedule. The teams are evenly matched right now in terms of talent and coaching, and it shows in their records. Only Cowboys fans expect our team to outperform everybody else in the division with 10-11 players on IR and problems at OT, and then conclude the issue is the coach when the reality is we're in contention.
