Coast Guard ends search for missing boaters...

Mast or engine-driven?

21' Center Console powered by a 250hp outboard. The boat is an Everglades, designed by the founder of Boston Whaler.

It's a bit small to be running that far offshore but I'd do it if the weather were perfect. I'd prefer to have dual 125's rather then the single 250 and I'd have an EPIRB for sure if I was running that far out.

COAST GUARD FINDS BOAT WITH PERSON CLINGING TO IT

In the end, it might be a very good thing that the Coast Guard opted not to call off the search for the four men (and two NFL players) who went missing at sea in a 21-foot fishing boat.

According to Bay News 9, the Coast Guard has found an overturned boat with a person clinging to it.

Assuming that it was the same boat that was carrying Raiders linebacker Marquis Cooper, Lions defensive end Corey Smith, Nick Schuyler, and William Bleakely, it is a sliver of good news amid a tragedy, because it means that three of the men have been lost.

Stay tuned for more.

UPDATE: The person who has been found reportedly is Nick Schuyler.

This is great news. You can stay afloat with a life preserver for several days. Let's hope for the best.

It isn't great news unless they found the rest of them.
Lets hope they have their life vest on and they are floating nearby.

Schuyler is coherent and helping investigators according to local report.

Unreal. I hope the survivor is okay.

I am praying for the other 3 right now.

I just saw a pic of the type of boat and, my word, that's a small boat to be so far off land.

Could you post pic or link to the pic?

This was a pic of the type of boat they were on. I found the pic on the blog I've been refreshing for updates.

Schuyler has reported the other 3 have life vests on.

Here's hoping.

this is looking a lot better than it did a few hours ago. gotta keep praying.

Well, a lot depends on the vests available and if the three missing are on a raft or not but if they are in the water, they probably have a life vest of some sort but it's probably not the kind the Navy might provide which means that it probably does not have the neck and upper body support you would need to be able to keep your head above water without having to continue to tread water. The water temperature is pretty warm where they went down so I'd say that three days is about the most you can hope for with calm seas and really, probably two days is all you can hope for if they are fit and fairly well hydrated prior to going into the water. If they were drinking, then that probably hurts they hydration. They've been in the water at least a day by now, maybe more. I don't know, you hope for the best but probably the worst has already happened.
