Coast Guard ends search for missing boaters...

I sold my 32 ft Wellcraft not long ago. I agree. I carried a GPS and waterproof marine radio on me and so did my first mate. Even with radar you can suddenly be surrounded esp 60-80 miles out to sea. There's no place to go and 6-8 ft seas are very uncomfortable and nightmarish in the dark. And there's a big difference in a 32 and a 21. They still all get real small read quick in weather.

I hate to say it but those guys probably went down in those seas.

Shouldn't they have the emergency beacon as well that you turn on so the coast guards finds you easier the distress signal

I wonder if they upgrade theirs as well I thought I read somewhere that you had to update the equipment due to a change in the signals if you wanted the Coast Guard to find you

This is not good news...

My prayers are with the family...

Puts sports in perspective real quick. Prayers to the men and their families.

this is the time you hate to be right

these things usually don't end well, as this is also the case

sad

i'm not trying to sound like a jerk or anything.....

but how does this all end? do they at some pt. look for the bodies? or do they just declare them dead and thats that?....

..this is messed up....

At this point, it is unlikely the bodies are ever recovered... very sad...

This is horrible.

They'll be declared, Lost at sea.

Man. I feel for those 2 teams and the families of the 4 men.

Coast Guard search for missing boat still on

The Coast Guard has not called off the search for a missing boat carrying Raiders LB Marquis Cooper and Lions DE Corey Smith, despite a previous report to the contract.

Given the extremely rough conditions still at sea, the 87-boats that were being used were replaced by 110-foot boats. The Air Force is now also chipping in. Two other men, Nick Skyler and William Bleakley, were also on the boat.

Well the search is still on but if not found, it would like the Bison Dele thing that happened a few years ago.

Thoughts and prayers go out to their friends and loved ones.
