I am not pushing for or against either quarterback, but I do want to point out that video cover image compares their first four seasons.

However, that's not the Andy Dalton of today.

I would like to see a comparison of Dalton's stats the last 4 years compared to Dak's last 4 years as that would be a way more relevant comparison for their worth.

Not necessarily. I think Dalton’s starts in Dallas correlate to his performance much more than starts in Cincinnati in terms of personnel, system, coaching.and even the pressure of the position.

Body of work over the long term yes.
Relevancy of work - not so much

I was speaking specifically about how Cowherd was comparing them, not how I would compare them.

Using his method, their stats from the last 4 years would be more relevant than the first 4 years of both since Dalton has been in the league a lot longer.

Obviously, there are many other factors to consider a true comparison, but that was not my point.

Cowturd has lost it. Now he is talking about how Dallas should lose so they can get a top 7 pick. He rates Dak as the 13th best quarterback while he has Andy at 23rd. Matt Mosely of all people set him straight by saying Dak is a top 5 quarterback.

First....these are your top five and I’d like to know who Mosley is bumping.

Mahomes
Rogers
Wilson
Allen
Tannehill - 70% completions 35 TDS 8 INTs and only Mahomes has a higher EPA than him. The guy is elite. Maybe Dak can emerge like he has.

Then Dak gets in with
Stafford - Watson - Jackson - Brady - Mayfield - Cousins

Personally I think Dak is more effective than both Ben and Brees at this stage of their careers.

Here’s where the separation comes. A healthy running Dak is absolutely a top ten QB.

A timid or less effective running Dak after surgery is absolutely not.

His value comes with running and passing and not in passing. This is why I do not consider Dak elite.

Jethro will pay him because he’s popular and brings relevance he can sell continuing to generate the top revenue in the league.

Basically the same business model with Romo for 10 years. Our Football Idiot is attached to his stars. Plus he still wants to prove he was right about his QB.

So many underlying agendas that don’t necessarily include building a championship team. Such is life with our dysfunctional organization and the most profitable franchise in the Sports Entertainment world.

It's a great point, you can sign Dalton for 15M a year while Dak is asking 37M a year. I like Dak better then Dalton but the price is high for the comparison.
I would not sign Dak long term for more than 30M per year. I'd love to have him but we need the rest he can't carry us on his own, we saw that early this season.
I'm Ok with a 3 year 50 million dollar deal with Dalton, get out of the Zeke contract, draft another RB 3rd/4th rd and build the best defense O-line in the league.

Is that a fair comparison?

About as fair as it gets. Hard to compare 2 QB's if they aren't on the same team. But even though they are, the OL with Dak is completely different than the OL with Dalton. Add that Dak has been in this system for years while Dalton has learned on the fly with no training camp and almost no reps till dak got hurt.

True story. If we make the play offs with our third string o line then surely Dak is done in Dallas

If you believe that, you don't know this organization. Jerry, will be so pumped up, that he will come out and say, "Just think, if we had Dak and all of our starters playing, how far we could go!" What you are essentially saying is, this team could win without Dak, Smith, Martin, etc.

LOL....Top 5????

So who are you bumping out of the following list to put Dak in the Top 5:

Mahomes
Rodgers
Wilson
Jackson
Brees
Cousins
Allen
Watson
Brady
Roethlisberger

That's 10 QB's right there that are better than Dak and you could argue there are several up and comers better than Dak so where are you getting Top 5 QB from is beyond me.

Dak, is at the same level as, Watson, Brady, Rothlisberger, Cousins, Brees, and maybe Wilson. Stop being a prisoner of the moment. Of that group, Mahomes, Rogers, Wilson, Brees, Brady, and Rothlisberger have won a championship. In that group, Mahomes and Rogers are elite, at the moment. Wilson, Brees, Brady, and Rothlisberger are having good years, due to the great team effort. Dak's name belongs in the group, whether you will admit it or not.

Andy Dalton hasn’t been turning the ball over to opposing defenses, while Dak was. Part of the reason opposing defenses got takeaways is because Dak stares down WRs and throws behind WRs and fumbles the ball, because he holds onto to it way too long. The Cowboys under Dak had the largest turnover differential in the league. So Dak contributed to the opposing defenses turnovers. These guys weren’t doing flips to catch Dak’s bad throws and reads. The Browns did drop plenty though that were right in their hands.
Elliott was turning over the ball. Only one of Dak's INTs was a bad choice and throw on his part. One was an end of game hail mary. One was near the end of a game where Cooper cut off his route, and one was a tipped ball. He also had a fumble on a strip sack where the DE on his blindside came in untouched. Dalton also has a higher INT rate.

There is no appreciable difference in turnovers anyway. Dak had 4 INTs and 3 fumbles, and Dalton has 7 INTs and 2 fumbles

And, of course, at the end of the day the offense with Dak behind center averaged 32 ppg., and with Dalton has averaged 23 ppg

Of course, why bother with those pesky facts if they don't fit the narrative, right?

Exactly what has Dak accomplished to warrant being included with those guys? Dak has had a team around him since he came into the league and all the help he could get and yet the farthest he has gone in the playoffs is a loss to the Rams in the division round.

Sorry did you mean to add ....just like Dak.

Keep it balanced and open both eyes ;)

This....some Dak groupies keep saying Dalton only looks good against bad teams, ignoring the fact that Dak also only looks good against bad teams. It's pretty comical.

I still don't understand the obsession. I'm seriously baffled by it.

Here I was imagining a Dak vs. Trevor quarterback controversy.

Instead I get Dak vs. Andy Dalton.

I remember visiting Chicago in college. All of the nightly newscasts led the whole show with the announcement that, finally, Peter Tom Willis would get the start for the Bears that weekend.

Top of the hour. Led the whole newscast. Peter Tom Willis.

That's nearly us now.

So when Dak threw an INT in his own territory against Seattle, gifting them 7 points, it wasn’t his fault? And the ‘Hail Mary’ of a whopping 26 yards with 16 seconds to go on a THIRD DOWN in Seattle is considered just a ‘prayer’?

And the Browns INT was a Hail Mary even though Dak stared down Cooper into two defenders on a 1st and 8, with around 1:40 to go? Of course they were down 27 in the fourth, but yeah, I’m sure the Browns weren’t playing soft defense and those weren’t garbage time yards.

I for one, believes that Dak would be much better, if he would modify his play to mirror the greats. When Dak gets a play called in, he hardly ever improvises. His interceptions, at times, are mindless.
scouting reports on stats Prescott is he's a slow reader of defense and must hurry it up in the pros. Well, he hasn't. The first few years he has had a very good offensive line around him which helps him in his slow reads. When the offensive line is not giving him extreme amounts of time he goes into a panic and his first thoughts are run or a hurried pass to the back, usually at his feet. With perfect protection he's an average QB with limits, so why pay him like he's elite?
With a worse offensive line, you can see Dalton knows how to get the ball out fast and is faster on his reads. agree?

Wow, finally some relevant conversation. Dak, is slower reading the defense, and his holding on to the ball and taking sacks, is detrimental to the team. Having said that, Dak is the current and future QB, in Dallas; unless he wants to leave.

10 quarterbacks right now have a passer rating over 100. The number 12 quarterback has 1,000 yards rushing.

Dak hasn't hit 100 since 2016. It's been five years.

Do we really want to pay $40 million for that?

Dak had Zack Martin, what are you talking about? He also had Smith some of the time, and wasn't entirely dependent on 3rd/4th/5th tackles.

And yes, a decent chunk of that was garbage time against defenses that were giving up tons of yards and points to everyone to start the season.

The only competent defenses Dak faced the team struggled to put up 20 on the Rams, and his numbers weren't good in the segment he did play against the Giants. Easily worse than Dalton's in that same game.

He didn't face anything close to the Washington defense.

Dalton didn’t have Zack the whole time, but he also had a Terrence Steele, Brandon Knight, and McGovern with more experience and, frankly, higher playing ability than they had earlier in the season. And Why hasn’t Dalton put up said “garbage time” stats that Dak did?? All I hear is excuses from Dak haters.
