Did we extend him?
1 year left on his contract will be 33 years old. I assume this is a 1 year rental. Which is fine, he's still playing at a high level, brings experience to the secondary, doesn't break the bank, allows Bland more development time.

Wonder what this means for Lewis?

Must have locked Jethro and Jr in a closet somewhere.

This to me looks like a smart move so they couldn't be responsible.

Getting a solid starting CB for a couple of years for a 5th plus whatever salary is a very good move

He should be an upgrade over Anthony Brown but he obviously isn’t what he was to cost only a fifth round pick.
I think teams were reluctant to give more for a CB that old. BUT if you only want him for a year or two...

More so he's just very old and could fall off a cliff soon.

His play last year would probably make him the best cornerback on our roster.

I just can't get excited about trading a draft pick for a 32 year old cornerback. I was raised better than that.

Definitely an upgrade. My post was before we knew who the trade was for.

Solid trade! Gilmore played most of his career with the Pats so you know he is technically sound, knows his job and plays within the system…good teacher for Dallas’ young DBs.
I am all for bringing in anybody to ease Dallas’ reliance on Wright, Joseph and whomever else they trotted out on the field last season.
Hoping Lewis and Brown can be contributors the upcoming season as well.

how many fifth round picks ever start for even a season and play well? For one or two years this is a good move

The secondary is really quite strong now.
  • Outside Corner: Diggs/Gilmore
  • Slot/nickel: Bland / Lewis / Mukuamu
  • FS: Hooker
  • SS: Kearse / Wilson
That’s a damn good secondary that can cover and play the run. We also got great edge rushers so just need a good LB and viable 1-Tech for a good defense overall.

Wow! Our boys did something and they didn't get fleeced. If he has anything at all left in the tank and doesn't fall off the cliff this is a great move. He also will have an easy time here because Diggs can cover the number one receiver.

A Matchup against the Eagles(Brown and Smith) looks easier on paper.

Gilmore, if I remember correctly, was playing really well last year against us, until the epic 4th quarter meltdown by their defense, as a result of all the TOs by the Colts offense.
