Jean Grey Grabs the Spotlight in Artgerm's 'X-Men: Hellfire Gala' #1 Cover
By MARVEL
May 24, 2022

Mutantkind is set to send shockwaves through the Marvel Universe yet again in this year’s HELLFIRE GALA!

A night overflowing with heavy drama, surprise guests, and game-changing revelations, the event will take place in July’s X-MEN: HELLFIRE GALA #1, a giant-sized one-shot will be written by current X-MEN writer Gerry Duggan along with an all-star lineup of artists: Kris Anka, Russell Dauterman, Matteo Lolli and C.F. Villa.

A Marvel Comic of such magnitude wouldn’t be complete without an incredible variant cover from artist Stanley “Artgerm” Lau. The mega-popular cover artist depicts Jean Grey is her now-iconic Hellfire Gala outfit from last year, ready to announce the new team of X-Men.

At last year's gala, mutants changed the face of the solar system, terraforming Mars and claiming it for mutantkind. Don’t dare miss this issue to see what comes next!

Looks like this Marvel/DC partnership happened after I stopped buying comics regularly in the 1990s. Looks good. I might backtrack and check out a few issues.

Didn't we see a Spiderman vs Superman comic collection magazine back in the 1980's ?
That one was the first i've seen the rarity Marvel vs DC.

And you're right, it's apparently a partnership, as there's been several other Marvel vs DC one on one battle comics produced now.
i just tried to post such cover page faces examples ( ala Black Panther vs Swamp Thing) but somehow i accidentally lost them. .

Marvel Studios' ECHO Reveals New Logo On Set
By Richard Nebens | The Direct
May 25, 2022

echo-kingpin-daredevil_z0DRFDC.jpg

Following her thrilling debut in last year's Hawkeye, Alaqua Cox is now set to star in her own Marvel Studios solo series, Echo, coming to Disney+ in the near future. While the plot and story behind Maya Lopez's first solo adventure are still a mystery, the team behind the MCU is currently hard at work bringing the franchise's second deaf superhero back to the small screen.

When fans last saw the MCU newcomer, Lopez had a gun pointed at her adoptive uncle, Vincent D'Onofrio's Kingpin, in a dark New York City alley. Of course, even though there was an audible gunshot heard in that scene, it's becoming increasingly likely that Maya's relationship with the Kingpin is far from over as she moves into her own solo adventure.

Marvel fans have found a major flaw with the MCU’s ‘Young Avengers’
By Erielle Sudario | We Got This Covered
May 23, 2022

Marvel fans are worried about a potential Young Avengers — but not because of the cast members, the plot, or the direction of the MCU Phase Four.

Reddit user omar_afx posted the current lineup of the potential Young Avengers team in the MCU on the official Marvel Studios subreddit. The team featured Kate Bishop from Hawkeye, Billy and Tommy from WandaVision, America Chavez from Doctor Strange 2, Cassie Lang from Ant-Man, and Elijah Bradley from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

Funny enough, some of the characters mentioned were part of the original Young Avengers lineup from the comics, with a few characters not yet introduced in the MCU but were seen in the source material.

Marvel fans have found a major flaw with the MCU’s ‘Young Avengers’

That it exists at all?

Question for the group:

Is anyone excited by the prospect of a film or TV series based on these characters?

That's news to me. Wish it had happened around the time X-Men: First Class came out. Kevin Bacon played a great Sabastian Shaw in my opinion. Corrupt. Very egotistical. Pretty good villain.

Yes sir, .... Bacon put up a helluva performance as Sebastian Shaw, even in the WWII days. - which i still haven't figured why at the time, young Magneto did not try to take out
Shaw, instead of taking out his immediate revenge on Shaw's soldier lackeys once Magneto's mom was shot by Shaw right in his face.

Bacon almost made up for the stone cold face, worthless acting from January Jones, as the White Queen, who was just a swimsuit ..and that's it.

Surprisingly good in my opinion. I groaned when I read that he had been cast but I thought he did a great job and was sorry to see him ‘go’.

I’ve never even bothered to see that one. No desire either. It serves as testament to just how badly FOX was handling the franchise before they sold the rights back.

I.. kinda... remember a Spidey/Supes comic but not 100% certain.

If I am not mistaken, the only reason Spider-man hurt Superman in their initial meeting was that Lex Luthor hit Spider-Man with a Kryptonite ray of some sort. Superman felt it and was surprised it hurt. Then he flew at Spider-man and was about to hit him with a force that would have pasted poor Peter but Superman realized at the last second that it might be a bad idea and stopped, but not before the force of the air from it knocked Spider-man back.

That's all I really remember from it.

Which i'm still trying to figure out what the heck happened with Fox to where they junked up the Xmen film series ?
And Xmen for some time was Marvel's most popular comic mag and biggest fan base.

i know they made a huuuge mistake in given the Xmen project to comedy oriented director Brett Raetner for Xmen Last Stand,.. and the very last Xmen
with director Simon Kinberg was just a mere special effects movie (just as they did Last Stand and Apocalypse) ..and yet another bad and final turn in the Phoenix saga.

Even with the solo Wolverine movie spinoffs, (Logan, Xmen Origins, The Wolverine) ..Xmen had a huge impact on the emergence of MCU- Marvel movies
that lead to other Marvel Superhero hits that it is to this very day.

Thanx, .. I'm sure i can pull up the cover page of that Spidey/Soopie epic battle issue when i have the chance. ;)

Your anti-January Jones sentiment seems as strong as my anti-Brandon Routh feelings in Superman Returns. Or him in anything else. :p
