Rumors for the new Black Panther lead role ?

- Letitia Michelle Wright - as Shuri; T' Challa's sister
- Winston Duke as M' Baku
- Daniel Kaluuya as W' Kabi

i dunno yet how i'd feel about the Black Panther being a female lead role ,.. especially since lead female superhero usually don't turn out that well.
Wonder Woman, Black Widow and Capt Marvel (we know why this one happened) being exceptions
You mention WW, BW and CM being exceptions. Which character are you referring did not turn out that well?

Two episodes??? Where did you watch the second episode? I do not see it on my Disney+ yet.

The metrics, I often refer to, are varied so far:

A good friend of mine told me something similar to what you said. I do not know. It has been a better watch for me through one episode than the first episode of Moon Knight so far. It sticks to the source material.

I am enjoying it. Then again, people have told me they thought Avatar: The Last Airbender was kiddish and that is flat-out one of the best American-style anime in my opinion.

Edit: Changing my original statement to "sticks close to the source material." The character's entire switch from stretching abilities to *cosmic* energy projections is totally new. It makes me wonder if the change was made for the present series to differentiate her abilities with the future introduction of Mr. Fantastic and his stretching ability?

yeh , Not every show and format is meant for ..or appeals to everyone ....

Many loved Loki series, but it ended up becoming one of the more boring, disinteresting Marvel series to me .
it was a true strain to finally see the season outcome was to be

Elektra,.. Tomb Raider, ..Cat Woman,.. Aeon Flux,
oooooh. Gotcha. I mostly agree but I would make a slight distinction between Angelina Jolie (better) and Alicia Vikander (worst) film roles.

Perhaps Violet from Ultraviolet should be thrown into that mix also? Or maybe also Milla Jovovich's role in her main action franchise, Resident Evil?

It is pure speculation on my part but I doubt there will be an New York City scenes. I would expect underwater sequences since personal and vehicular Wakandan technology is equipped for that environment.

and if it's underwater which is what i am anticipating, then the underwater, ocean floor camera work and cinematography should be something worthy to see, just as the Wakanda costumes, makeup and
surrounding cinematography was an awesome show to see. ..

I think Resident Evil viewer interest was more about the zombie mania craze that exploded in the film industry, than people intrigued about seeing Milla Jovovich's lead role.

I too was down for seeing what the Resident film series would evolved into, but after " Extinction" ...they really blew it with the "mutating" venus-trapped mouth zombies ...

Who is Moira X, and why she is such a threat to the X-Men explained
By Samantha Puc | GamesRadar
June 15, 2022

Jonathan Hickman's 2019 relaunch of the X-Men line at Marvel Comics completely altered the course of mutant history – and paved the way for a future where they'll never permanently die. In addition to positioning Krakoa as a mutant nation and a world power, Hickman also shook up several characters' backstories and goals – including Dr. Moira MacTaggert.

Now known as Moira X, this character has perhaps seen the biggest change in the new line of X-Men comics. No longer just a human ally to the mutant cause, Moira is now a powerful villain with multiple iterations existing across timelines, and she's a huge threat to everything the mutants have built.

Moira X's villainous schemes are about to make an impact on the upcoming Hellfire Gala event, in which Krakoa will welcome humans to the mutant nation for a kind of 'mutant prom' – a party which Moira will crash in an unexpected disguise.

Here's everything you need to know about Moira X, including why she's such a worrisome presence in the Marvel Universe – and what we know about her plans for the Hellfire Gala.

THE STORY OF THE RONIN CONTINUES AND MORE FROM MARVEL’S SEPTEMBER 2022 STAR WARS COMICS – EXCLUSIVE PREVIEW
By Starwars.Com Team | StarWars.com
June 15, 2022

star-wars-visions-1-cober_TALL.jpg

The Star Wars: Visions series on Disney+ brought the galaxy far, far away into the world of anime, with some of Japan’s most acclaimed studios telling their own unique tales. “The Duel,” from Kamikaze Douga, followed the mysterious Ronin, a Force-sensitive warrior who arrives in a sleepy village just in time to battle a Sith Lord. And the Ronin’s adventures aren’t over.

Lucasfilm Publishing and Marvel surprised fans last month at Star Wars Celebration Anaheim 2022, announcing that Star Wars: Visions would be coming to comics, as Takashi Okazaki (one of the talents behind “The Duel”) will be writing and drawing a new story featuring the Ronin. StarWars.com is excited to reveal the cover, concept sketches, and first details of Star Wars: Visions in our exclusive preview of solicits for Marvel’s September 2022 Star Wars comics, including the final installment of Obi-Wan, the flagship Star Wars series, Han Solo & Chewbacca, Bounty Hunters, Darth Vader, Doctor Aphra, and The Mandalorian.

This Is the Best DC Comics Movie of All Time
By Douglas A. Mcintyre | 24/7 Wall St
June 15, 2022

The first DC Comics came out in 1937. Movies based on these characters have had huge success. Today, the franchise is owned by Warner Bros., which is part of the Warner Bros. Discovery median giant. Warner Bros. is among America’s most storied studios and has been owned by several media companies over time.

DC Comics has produced many fictional characters. The best known of these are Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman. Each has become part of a movie series of its own.

Several movies that have been successful are loosely tied to the DC franchise. On a related note, 2002’s “Road to Perdition” and David Cronenberg’s “A History of Violence” were both based on DC properties, a fact perhaps not generally known. Meanwhile, recent classics such as 2019’s “The Joker” and 2022’s “The Batman” are not technically considered to be part of the DC Extended Universe (DCEU). As it just so happens, they are also some of the most beloved DC-based films of the past decade. Does anyone notice a trend here?

so i wonder since Moira was the natural mother to Proteus, she had to be a mutant herself ? .
.but either did not detect the mutant gene, or somehow was able to hide or suppress it as such ? Even from advanced sentinels ?

I'm way, way far behind from todays comic era, and and Geico caveman to these current comic book update events.
i haven't even came close to catching up to the Apocalypse Wars

We remember the original human Dr. Moira MacTaggert, who had a professional and friendship relationship with Charles Xavier. At some point afterwards in the Ultimates storyline, Marvel reimagined MacTaggert as a mutant and Xavier's wife. This time will be another incarnation of her as a mutant but also a malevolent one.

Now for movies I could *possibly* rank inside or outside my top 25 but simply refuse to give them consideration because I cannot stand that they were even made:

Batman & Robin (1997)
Steel (1997)
Supergirl (1984)
Superman III (1983)
Superman IV The Quest For Peace (1987)

These movies barely fit my personal definition of DC movies:

Jonah Hex (2010)
V For Vendetta (2006)

Finally, the one live action movie I have not seen yet (and do not plan to see unless Black Adam compels me):

Shazam! (2019)

EDIT: Crap. Forgot. Zack Snyder's director cut has wiped 2017's Justice League completely from my mind. Joss Whedon's redo is dead to me.

The 10 Best Netflix Original Shows Based On Comics
By Richard Preston | Screen Rant
June 19, 2022

Characters-from-Sweet-Tooth-and-The-Umbrella-Academy.jpg

With the third season of The Umbrella Academy dropping on June 22nd and Neil Gaiman's DC comic book project The Sandman series slated to arrive later in 2022, Netflix continues to be one of the best streaming destinations for comic book fans. And the draw isn't just the great stunts and CGI. Netflix allows creators to dig deep into character development and complex storylines, generating engaging heroes like the battered Spaceboy Luther Hargreeves and the introverted Kinsey Locke.

Faced with a plethora of comic-based series to watch, it is often difficult for fans to sort out the originals from shows adopted or rerun from other networks, like Lucifer and The Walking Dead. The best Netflix adaptations excel at cinematics, stunts, well-developed characters, and engaging plotlines, making it worthwhile to know the difference.

The Umbrella Academy (2019 - )

10 Comic Characters Inspired By Dracula
By John Witiw | CBR
June 19, 2022

Comic-Characters-Inspired-By-Dracula-CBR---1400-x-700.jpg

Dracula has appeared in various comics over the years, including both DC and Marvel. Since he's in the public domain, there usually isn't too much of a problem including him in modern works. But this hasn't stopped some comics from including characters merely inspired by the most famous of all vampires.

Some of them aren't necessarily vampires. It helps that there was a time when censorship once prohibited vampires from directly appearing in comics. Some are good guys or at least morally ambiguous. Because Dracula is one of the most adapted characters of all time, comic characters might be more specifically based on film or television incarnations rather than Stoker's original villain. And some of these might even get to meet the original.

10 Morbius: He's Marvel Comics' Own "Living" Vampire

Amazon Promises to Fix Issues with Its Digital Comic Service Comixology: Kindle App Integration Fix
By Urian B | Tech Times
June 20, 2022

Amazon has dipped into almost every digital niche out there with different services catering to different markets. Although the company acquired a digital comic service called Comixology, there have still been issues with the service, and the retail giant has announced that it will be fixing it.

About four months after the company initially integrated Comixology into its other services, Amazon itself publicly acknowledged that the platform has had quite a lot of issues. As spotted by Gizmodo, a thread released by Amazon noted to the public that they understand the needed improvements saying they are already working to improve it as quickly as possible.

As per the Twitter thread, Comixology posted that they have been combing through user feedback and are grateful for the strong fanbase when it comes to comics. They noted that they understand the changes needed and are working on them as fast as possible.

Frank Miller's Batman: The Dark Knight Returns Cover Sells for Over $2 Million at Auction
By Russ Burlingame | ComicBook.com
June 20, 2022

The iconic cover to The Dark Knight Returns #1, by artist Frank Miller and colorist Lynn Varley, sold at auction for over $2 million over the weekend, marking the most money ever paid for a piece of Batman original art. In fact, it bulldozed the previous record of $600,000 pretty thoroughly, and more than quadrupled the highest amount anyone had previously paid for a piece of Miller's art. In 2011, Heritage Auctions -- the same company that oversaw the Dark Knight Returns sale this month -- sold a page of original art from The Dark Knight Returns for almost $450,000.

The Dark Knight Returns is the standout work from Miller's storied career. The story, which was not part of DC's existing continuity, took place in a near-future dystopia where an aging, bitter Bruce Wayne is forced out of retirement to be Batman again. The series has become one of the most influential pieces of superhero fiction ever created, and the cover itself is often imitated, homaged, and parodied.

"We're thrilled to see Frank Miller and Lynn Varley's influential work reach a level often associated with classic American art," said Heritage Auctions Vice President Todd Hignite in a statement (via Bleeding Cool). "It deserves that, as this is easily one of the most famous comic-book covers from any era, and it defined the superhero genre from the 1980s to this very moment. I can't think of a more important piece of comic art to have ever come to auction."
