HBO Max launched in the U.S. in May 2020. Although the platform was initially run by its former parent company, AT&T, WarnerMedia's merger with Discovery transferred ownership to the newly formed company. The platform has grown into a strong rival to Netflix (NFLX -1.21%) and Walt Disney's (DIS -1.61%) Disney+ in just two years. HBO and HBO Max had a combined total of 76.8 million global subscribers in Q1 2022.
A report released in June compared the overall user satisfaction of the nine biggest streaming platforms. HBO Max, Disney+, Hulu, and Netflix ranked at the top, suggesting these services had the best-perceived value and content. HBO Max led the way in subscriber satisfaction with 92% of participants very satisfied with the platform, an increase of 2% from 2021.

In addition to fair pricing, HBO Max offers members a wealth of legacy titles from HBO's premium library and blockbuster releases, such as the latest DC movies. Both of its subscription tiers allow access to all 10 of Warner Bros. Discovery's entertainment hubs, including DC, Classics Curated by TCM, Studio Ghibli, Cartoon Network, Sesame Workshop, Crunchyroll, Adult Swim, Cartoonito, and Looney Tunes.
When surveyed for HBO Max's quality and variety of content satisfaction, the platform won out against all its competitors. The figures showed about 90% of consumers are pleased with the streamer's original series, about 85% with its library series, and more than 86% with its movies. Disney+ came in at a close second behind HBO Max, but Netflix was just over 75% with its original series, while its library series and movies hovered around 70%.

@quickccc you may want to read this article. Disney may wrestle DC away from WarnerMedia Discovery one day but it will likely not be some day soon.
I go on/off on my subscriptions, I get tired of all of them, but my favorite for content
1. HBOMAX. Agree with article. Best new movie, hit movie, classic movie and compelling TV (mainly because they have HBO) of all the mixes
2. DISNEY/HULU/ESPN. Have to go with the combo package. Disney with Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar and Simpsons. Hulu with FX, and some all-time TV shows. ESPN with 30 for 30. I’m sure if you have a lot of young ones, this is higher.
3. NETFLIX. My wife would rank it #1 because she loves foreign TV/Movies. I like it because a lot of new content but I feel like half of it is just crap they’re throwing out to see what sticks. Another one too I think families with young kids probably value more.
4. PARAMOUNT. I’m a big documentary fan so having Smithsonian along with some quality CBS is great.
5. AMAZON. Again, wife would prob rank it higher cause she likes all that British programming. It has a few original content I enjoy and some decent older movies, and all the other Prime perks are what make it worth more.
6. APPLE. Quickly improving and growing library of original content.
7. PEACOCK. Must have if wrestling fan. Some good shows.
8. THE REST. If you want your packages separately like Showtime or Cinemax. Crunchyroll, the horror apps, etc… some of these other services never tried but I’m sure if you’re into whatever they specialize, they’re #1 in your book.
