The Commanders have really surprised me. They are not a bad team.

I think we'll be fighting them for a playoff spot all the way to the end.

Yeah, I was harshly criticized for suggesting that they would make the playoffs this year and maybe even the superbowl. How many qb's in the NFC are better than Brunell right now? How many have a better rb than Portis, a better play-making receiver than Santana Moss? And a top 5 defense.

They ahve definitely surprised me. I thought they got hosed on the Coles Moss deal when in reality it was the other way around. Their team still has a lot to go before they are in the playoff race. I need to see them beat a division rival convincingly (not luck out in the last second). I will say this though, gibbs has outcoached parcells this year. They are about to face the reality of tough teams we have already played. I dont see them in hte playoff race 4 weeks from now.

Uh! They actually beat Seattle who we played yesterday.

I think its time people give the Skins credit...they are a good team

and unlike us, their defense doesnt blow it in the close ones...

their offense scored 7 tds yesterday...we've managed only 6 tds in the last 4 games combined (Raiders, Eagles, Giants, Seahawks)

right now they are a better team than us, period. It probably isnt what people want to hear, but right now its true

Well said, David.

and? whats your point? This isnt a cowboys vs Commanders comparison thread. We beat the chargers who beat the patriots, does that make us nfl champs? Commanders are good, but will end up about average. They are not superbowl contenders. they wont make the playoffs. they still need a year or two before that will happen. Brunell is not the long term solution, hes quite injury prone, and I would be shocked to say the least if he were to make it thru the season. I dont consider seattle a hard team, we dominated them defensively, and gave the game away on offense.

If you would, explain to me how do you think the Giants are going to beat the Skins. You're talking about the Giants 31st ranked defense (49er's being 32nd) going against the Skins which are putting up insane yards every week and finally stopped with all the silly turnovers in the redzone. Everyone likes to talk up Eli but most seem to overlook Brunell who honestly is just on fire, he's not throwing up jumpballs but every deep ball is hitting recievers in stride. Then you have Moss who is leading the league in recieving by nearly 100 yards and Portis who's hanging in there with a decent 4.4 ypc.

Unless the Giants pull 2+ more turnovers than the Skins, I can't see how the Giants pull that game out. Oh, Giants D sitting last in the league on 3rd downs on defense at 50%, Skins O sitting 2nd at 46%, just not a good for the Giants.

It's not that our team is enigmatic, it's that they probably need a helping of self-confidence and some therapy after dropping some of these games vs. overmatched foes they so desperately "tried not to lose." The grind-it-out, clock-burning, bus driver style offense may just be the exact opposite that the Cowboys need to win the NFC East now, at least that's my story. I know, I know, coaches coach and players execute, but this isnt advanced NASA rocket theory, here.

It's Bledsoe's immobility and poor decision-making that's holding us back. He's the kind that you have to max-protect and so that takes away from our versatility. That's why we can only move the ball against weak defenses. As for Eagles, they've been struggling lately defensively, being hot and cold, that's why they can shut down the Chargers and not the Chiefs who have struggled offensively of late.

Every week I try to justify the Skins being downright lucky. However, they do have Gregg Williams and Gibbs running the show. And they are sitting there at 4-2. After this week I think the division will look like this

2) Dallas 5-3
3) Philly 4-3
4) Washington 4- 3

that's insane. all 4 teams above .500 almosthalf way through the season

Hey man, look at the coaching staffs in our division, all proven veterans, no rookies or junior geniuses or wannbe head coaches like Mike Martz or Norv Turner or Mike Sherman.

Brunell ranks 8th in the NFC.. :bang2: lets give him more than a few easy games before we proclaim him probowler.. he does have the best rating so far, but it will not stay that way for the rest of the season. He has been playing great, but so did Bledsoe for a few weeks.

I love how you guys have whole threads about the Washington Commanders. Just go ahead and admit it, you guys really love us and deep down are Commanders fans. I knew it all along. Fact is, we're greatly improved (obviously) and what's more, Joe Gibbs is doing this in only his second year. Our roster STILL has Spurrier's fingerprints all over it and the more they disappear, the better we will get. I'm not jinxing what we have going right now by saying we will make the playoffs, maybe not.... But boy, it sure is great to see us play good football again. Lastly, PLEASE keep choking away your games at the end. There's nothing I love watching more after the 'Skins game then flipping over to your game and watching Parcells shoving his assistants and poor play-calling ruining a chance for a win.

We don't love you, but respect Gibbs and what he has done this year. Any coach that has won 3 superbowls has earned my respect, and with 3 very different qbs at that.

Brunell isnt better than Eli Manning, Bledsoe, Drew Brees, Marc Bulger, and Donovan McNabb. Dont kid yourself. Portis is a solid rb, but hasnt performed against any teams with a real run defense. The only easy game they have left is Arizona. The rest of the games are hard ones. They WILL come down to reality.

Please tell me you're joking?
Only Roethlisberger and Palmer have a better QB rating than Brunell.
I'd really really like to see what evidence you come up with to justify that statement.

Porits is still on pace for over 1800 total yards. He has run against a top 3 defense (Bears), a top 10 defense (Seattle), another top 10 defense (Dallas), and a then top 5 defense (Broncos).

The Skins could easily lose their next 3 games, this coming off a 2 game slide prior to beating the pathetic 49ers.
In our two losses we looked MUCH better than we did in our wins (uhh..besides the 49ers of course :)). This team continues to improve each week.

Oh and how do you figure the Giants will win Billy?
They don't have a defense that can keep up with our O. And our defense is certainly capable of keeping up with their O.

Just ignore the fact that he has the best passer rating in the NFC throwing 12 TD's and only 2 picks.

Think about what you just said. Brunell beat us on the road, while Manning was terrible against us. Brunell is more versatile than Bledsoe, he's a play-making qb, not a statue. Brees plays in the AFC anyway, not the NFC and doesn't have near the experience that Brunell does. Bulger is weak-armed and Brittle and got his head handed to him by Atlanta and the Panthers in the playoffs and McNabb has no running game and is injured. Oh, and Bledsoe is a choker, see the earlier Commander game, the Raider game, the Seahawk game and last years Steelers game.

the skins remaining schedule does look the most brutal of all 4 teams in our division. They continue to suprise me though. We will really know the quality of all four teams after a few weeks when there has been more intradivision play.

Yep because we all know a QB's rating over 5 games is a true sign of their worth. LOL

2nd half of their schedule isactually tough. They will finally start playing more division games, and start playing real teams that will give them a fight, not a 49ers team ravaged by injuries starting a first year qb.

2 games vs the giants, 2 games vs the eagles, 1 game for us to get revenge. Bucs will beat them. Chargers will beat them, Raiders can easily beat them. Rams will have Bulger back by then, and have a shot to beat them, only easy team left is the cardinals. It's about damn time.

Oct. 30 @ Giants 1:00pm ET FOX / 708
Nov. 6 vs. Eagles 8:30pm ET ESPN
Nov. 13 @ Buccaneers 1:00pm ET FOX / 707
Nov. 20 vs. Raiders 1:00pm ET CBS / 707
Nov. 27 vs. Chargers 1:00pm ET CBS / 711
Dec. 4 @ Rams 4:05pm ET FOX / 716
Dec. 11 @ Cardinals 4:05pm ET FOX / 715
Dec. 18 vs. Cowboys 1:00pm ET FOX / 708
Dec. 24 vs. Giants 1:00pm ET FOX / 713
Jan. 1 @ Eagles

I know your recent loss stung a bit and you are looking for a way to diminish our ability to put more points on the Niners than any team has since 1980, but proclaiming our schedule up to this point an easy one is simply howling a the moon. We've played the toughest schedule in the division so far, and unlike you all, we haven't had the luxury of any home division games yet. We've played one, count em, one team with a losing record, and put 52 points on them.

Other than the hapless Niners, which the Cowboys required last-second heroics to beat, the Commanders have played a 3-3 (at home), 4-3 (on the road), 5-2 (home), 5-2 (road) and 4-2 (road) team. During that stretch, we've managed to post the league's #3 defense, #2 offense, #1 WR in the league, a QB with the top passer rating in the conference and the #4 rushing attack in the league.

I find it most amusing that we FINALLY get to play a struggling team, CRUSH them, and suddenly we've had a cake schedule. In contrast, the Cowboys, who's road schedule until now included the 3-4 Chargers, the 2-4 Raiders and the 1-5 Niners, FINALLY play a decent team on the road, lose, and they've played a tough schedule?

Cry me a river. :)

this isnt a comparison thread. the boys are already down to reality. the reality that we arent a superbowl team just yet. the skins fans think they are in the superbowl every year as we all know. we will see how the season ends.

Commanders lost to the broncos. Giants beat the broncos. Does that guarantee a Giants win?
