uh Bruce Smith. Deion Sanders. Jeff George. Trading Champ and a 2nd for Clinton Portis. Antwan Randle El. Trading a 3rd for TJ Duckett.

oh wait...

i remember when they did that Clinton/ Bailey trade, from listening from the Skin fans you would have sworn they had the best RB ever. No one at that time could tell them you never trade away an elite CB, and there they were trading it away for a RB.

The discussions about how he was better than Emmitt, and they got the better deal because he was a great back in his prime and could go ten years, and on and on and on.

My favorite Snyder moment was Trading a 2nd round pick to the Dolphins for Taylor getting like 3 sacks out of him before releasing him the next year to sign right back with the Dolphins :laugh2:

:muttley: It's cute how you believe Vinny was this rogue GM that made all of these horrendous personnel decisions without the input and OK coming from Dan Snyder.

Why do the Commanders sign so many people without first waiting for the draft? It seems like the Skins will just sign anybody for the names regardless if they suck or not.
I disagree with this. I think they look for guys who will suck.

I was agreeing with Yeager saying the skins have never given anyone the idea they wanted to get better.

They've got their heads so far in the sand that they better be able to breathe out of their toes. I was talking to an Oakland fan just last night that still thinks Al Davis is one of the best owners/GM's in the league. :lmao:

Seriously, all of a sudden Dan Snyder is this hands off owner. Silly Commander fans.

Yep Bob, I bet you have ALL the inside info don't you? It was ALL Snyder. Or are you talking out your arse again? (see: Peppers, Julius; predictions for)

By ALL accounts, VINNY was the one who pushed for Taylor. VINNY was the one who pushed for Zorn. I am not saying Snyder was not at fault at all -- but it was VINNY who was the Personnel guy.

But I guess it's easier for you to sit and guffaw with the rest of the groundlings about Snyder, since he's still here and Vinny is gone. Meanwhile ignore that a legitimate coach and GM have been brought in. Feel free to dismiss that with one of your 2-line, monosyllabic posts.

Sonny, I applaud what Snyder finally did after waaaaaay too long. But, there are two BIG things that are going to work against you and the other Commander fans for at least a few more years:

#1: If Dan was so against Vinny's decisions, he probably wouldn't have let him hang around for the last ten years. Snyder has to take the blame for those decisions because he could have prevented them for a very long time by just getting rid of Cerrato and hiring someone competent.
#2: The last time Dan gave up this much power and his BFF, he fired Marty after only one year and brought back (you know this story), the one and only Vinny Cerrato.

Sorry Sonny, but you are going to have to live with the ridicule for a while until Dan actually shows that he is willing to let the new regime make the moves through good and bad for a season or two without whisking them out the door and bringing back his BFF.

I completely and 100% agree that Snyder took entirely too long to fire Cerrato. Until the last 2 years, it wasn't JUST Vinny's decisions. Although, I think he had significant input, Gibbs had a lot of say, and I am sure Spurrier had a lot of say before him.

Marty had us in the right direction by the end of '01. Snyder couldn't handle not being involved...mix that with the well-known fact that Schotty is an ornery *******...and, well we know the result.

Here's why I believe THIS time is different:

1. Schotty was almost 10 years ago. I think Snyder is FINALLY beginning to wise up. Impetuous, impatient, egomanical, yes...stupid is something Snyder is not. I think he realizes he needs to take his hands off the wheel.

2. The Fan Revlot. Snyder has never been particularly liked by the fan base -- but this year -- it turned into out and out hatred. He doesn't like being hated...

Anyway -- this is all just my opinion and ultimately time will tell...but I highly doubt Cerrato's face ever darkening the doors of Commanders park again...

The sad reality is that they DID improve with Grossman and Johnson...They are acutally improvements over Collins and Betts.

Yes, Vinny may have been the personnel guy. Vinny may have pushed for these players. But Snyder is as hands on an owner, maybe more so than any one in this league. I refuse to believe that an almost decade long of bad decisions all rest entirely, or mostly on Vinny Cerrato. He was just a convenient scapegoat because his title as GM or Vice President opened him to it. But you know damn well Snyder was the driving force behind all of it.

I'm not dismissing it. I'm just not entirely impressed. You once hired a HOF coach too. I'm just not listening to you guys try to harp on anything about the Commanders anymore. You guys have been wrong for forever.
