Make no mistake about it. Haynesworth is the best defensive player in the NFL. The Titans were able to stop the run with 7 people and only rush 4 because of Haynesworth. Its an insane contract but that doesn't mean the guy is not a force. He's not the same player as he was 3 years ago. No one can single block him.

I only hope Canty, assuming the Titans sign him, fits better in the Titans penetrating style of defense that what he did in Dallas as a 3-4 end.

Sorry, I have to call BS on that.

Ware and Harrison are both better than Haynesworth. I would also list Freeny better than Haynesworth as well.

He is good, but not lets get crazy here. There are a handful of defensive players I would list as better than him........easily.

I'll take him right now.

He's still a talented corner, no doubt. You just have to be wary about the health issues. It just seems like ever since he has gotten here, he has really only had one good season.

Those guys just rush the passer, because of the attention Haynesworth gets it frees up the rest of the DL and also allows the DBs to sit back in zones. 3 of the Titans secondary players made the probowl. Last season Odom and Laboy got huge contracts because they racked up sacks because of Haynesworth. He gets double and triple teamed and still has 8.5 sacks for a defensive tackles that amazing.

Also against the run the Titans never had to play an 8 man front. They stopped the run(extremely well) with 7 people and were able to play deep zones.

Pass rushing OLBs can't make that kind of impact on run downs.

Haynesworth is a huge force on every defensive situation run or pass.

I guarantee you if Ware were a Free Agent he would be the most sought after player on the market by a huge margin.

Springs is a great player, our D was better when he was in, he just misses so many games.

Why did the Titans let him walk then, they are like $30 mill under the cap so they had plenty of room.

Is it Bud Adams just being a cheap arse???

The Titans don't spend huge money on free agents. I don't know how many times teams like the Skins, Cowboys and Raiders have to be burned to see its not the answer.

The Steelers signed one player last year, Melwelde Moore and won the SB.

I never said the Skins were smart for doing this deal, I simple said Haynesworth was a real force because people on here were down playing him.

I hope jerry dosen't feel the need to make a big splash because the deadskins are throwing around all this loot.

He won't. Mainly because he can't.

Ware is the priority. And he should be.

.

The Cowboys have never been like the Raiders or Commanders. The vast majority of our guys are drafted or signed as RFA's by us. Jones has spent big dollars to keep his good players, but we've never been like the Skins or some other teams.

He has been a force for the last two years when he was playing for this contract.

He's been in the league seven years and has exactly two high level years. And BTW, he has played a full sixteen games only once, his rookie year.

Have at him, Commanders. Enjoy.

That's ridiculous money...I'm sure you are all glad I'm not the gm, but I'd even let DWare walk before I'd pay him that much money.

Every player can be replaced.

Players that get 15-20 sacks a yr are not easy to replace. In fact its almost impossible. It took us a decade+ to find someone to "replace" Charles Haley

Ware's the best defensive player in the league, teams have to dedicate 2 or 3 guys to him or he kills the QB. There's no way we let him go, nor should we.

Why would we sign Springs? Unless you mean he's retiring.

As far as Haynesworth, yes the money is a lot, but it's not your money. This is one of the few times the Commanders have paid a lot of money to a player that is actually good.

It's probably heavily backloaded so it won't matter.
Well, 32 million in the first 13 months can only be so back-loaded.

I'm guessing burmafrd is right -- a bunch of that 32 comes next year. So, yeah, if an agreement is reached then they could be screwed.

I betcha the Hall deal is similar -- lots of bonus money to be paid out next year.

Haynesworth is a great player. Sure, that's a lot of money, but the Commanders weren't the only team lining up to pay him. And for good reason, he's the best D-Lineman in football, and makes everyone on their defense better. It's funny to me how fellow Boys' fans are trying to spin it. The Commanders just got better. Now Dallas needs to do the same, whether that is by having a good draft, improving our scheme, bringing in a FA, or just having our young guys improve with another year under their belt. As tough as our division was last year, its looking like it might be tougher this year.

I don't think Haynesworth is going to be any less the player he was before the contract. I think he likes going to the pro-bowl, and may one day end up a HOFer. He'd probably like to win a ring as well.

The same can be said for Hanyesworth, he has never had a completely healthy season

Well, I'm more with Oilerman's point of view. This stinks for us. I really thought after that insane contract Hall got, they'd be out of the running for Haynesworth. Too bad they aren't.

I mean, we all make fun of Snyder's ridiculous FA signings, but big contracts aren't all wastes. For DeAngelo Hall, they are. For a potential DPOY DT who's still young, they aren't.

I'll hope he tanks like you guys say. At least he's going from one of the best coaches in the league and a great defensive-minded coach to a noob like Zorny.

Eh, and it kind of makes me sick that Jerry is spending his money on WRs while Snyder is spending it on important positions like DL.

Oh well.
