Players that get 15-20 sacks a yr are not easy to replace. In fact its almost impossible. It took us a decade+ to find someone to "replace" Charles Haley

Ware's the best defensive player in the league, teams have to dedicate 2 or 3 guys to him or he kills the QB. There's no way we let him go, nor should we.

Agreed. This is a different era of football, salaries are only going to go up. I could care less (it is not my money) for as long it is not to the point that it becomes prohibitive to keep the players we want to keep.

And the price to re-sign Ware just sky rocketed, got to love the likes of Snyder and Davis in FA :bang2:

Am I pipe dreaming hoping that the skins cut Springs and he makes a bee-line to Dallas for a reasonable deal? Anyone heard his intentions?

If he can play safety i'd be all for it, but there's really no point in spending a lot on corners specially another injury waiting to happen when we already have a few of those

Haynesworth is a great player. Sure, that's a lot of money, but the Commanders weren't the only team lining up to pay him. And for good reason, he's the best D-Lineman in football, and makes everyone on their defense better. It's funny to me how fellow Boys' fans are trying to spin it. The Commanders just got better. Now Dallas needs to do the same, whether that is by having a good draft, improving our scheme, bringing in a FA, or just having our young guys improve with another year under their belt. As tough as our division was last year, its looking like it might be tougher this year.

I don't think Haynesworth is going to be any less the player he was before the contract. I think he likes going to the pro-bowl, and may one day end up a HOFer. He'd probably like to win a ring as well.

The Skins defense got better. But the defense was already good. What they need to address is the offense and I don't believe they have the money now to do so until the draft. And will they have money even pay their draft picks.

And if this helps lead to us cutting Henry and replacing him with Springs I'd also be thrilled.

According to adam schefter on NFLN, both Hall and Haynesworth were offered MORE money than the Commanders offered, but both chose to come to washington

It's a shame to me when players don't know past History.

Good year to draft O-line though.

Well, Danny can still work some magic, I would love to see Derrick Dockery brought back in. If we can manage that, then somehow try and land alex mack. Otherwise, hopefully one of the big 4 lineman lands to us

He's a great player. Is it the money paid to a DT? Or do you think he will become a fat cat athlete?

Yeah, I'm curious, too. I'd take him on my team.

IMO no player can live up to his contract, unless his name is LT (as in Lawrence Taylor)

Yes, he makes the d-line much better. But will he ever have the ROI on a 100 million dollar deal?

Whenever Dan Snyder understands that you can spend 1/10th of that money on a dominant scouting department and find more Chris Horton's in a draft, the Commanders will be a middling 8-8 team

You simply can't expect a team to be very good long term when you tie up 100 million on a DT, who can't possibly live up to that deal without winning some games all by himself (sack, fumble recovery TD type plays)
