Brandon Lloyd and Patrick Crayton are potentially receivers on the rise, but neither has been convincing beyond flashes. Lloyd's stats are very deceiving in that he was the best option on a terrible team, so his stats are padded. In 1988, Ray Alexander had 54 catches for 788 yards and 6 TDs for us. He caught one more pass his entire career. Similarly Lloyd had 48 catches and 5 TDs for the 49ers last year. Even on bad teams, someone has to make some catches-- and to his credit for the 49ers that guy was Lloyd-- but what is more indicitive is that SF as bad as they are were all-too-willing to get rid if him. Rather strange for a young prospect, right?

good point about Lloyd, that sounds like Antonio Bryant's situation, a 1,000 yard season would be considered good by most means, but he did it for a poor Brown's team devoid of a lot of offensive talent, and he was let go w/o a fight, and received very little interest on the market, although AB is a more talented than Lloyd

funny that both distanced some teammates and were very inconsistent

The prob for Wash is the WRs have no size.

They tlak of Lloyd going across the middle on shorter routes but the reason he isn't in SF is because he wouldn't do that. He is a deep threat all or nothing guy. Randel El is a below average NFL WR but very much a plus return man.
:hammer:

It's like they are trying to revive the Smurfs. The only problem is, none of these guys are as tough as Monk and Clark were and none are as sure handed as Monk either.

Santana Moss is a legit threat. No doubt about that. Randle El will help their Special Teams and contribute. I think they're expecting more of Lloyd than he's got in the bag of tricks.

You know nothing!!! The coaching of Saunders will instill Achilles like power and stamina amongst these recievers! The legendary Gibbs shall awaken teh sleeping giants within these small David like men! They shall then take down the Goliaths of the NFL!!! Behold! Behold and fear!!!

The rest of the world sees how potent we'll be yet somehow the Cowboys are still better.

I love how Randle El caught 35 passes last year as the third option on a team that threw the ball less than anyone, yet somehow he's only good enough for 25 catches in a offense that throws first to set up the run.

Amazing.

We're not bitter. We're amused at the extreme optimism.

Let's say Lloyd sucks. 30 catches. Same for Randle El. Somehow he crawls in a shell, hides under a rock, and doesn't do the exact same thing he's done for 4 years. 25 catches like the above poster predicted. That's 55 more catches for the Skins offense. Much better than our #2 receiver last year.

Nobody is predicting this group to be the second coming. We are predicting improvement over last season.

What is so hard to understand about that?

Guys Grant Paulsen is a 16 year old, I wouldn't really get bent out of shape over this

The WR group has the potential to be terrific, but can Brunell/Campbell get the ball there, will Lloyd get rid of those mental mishaps, can Randle-El flourish in this O, will Moss be happy with fewer catches this year

All questions remain to be answered

What's amazing is that Skins fans think he will.

El will be the Skins third WR.

In the Chiefs offense last year, the #3 WR was thrown 51 passes all year long. Their #2, Sami Parker, was only thrown 58.

Brandon Lloyd was thrown 109 passes last year. He only caught 44% of them. Randle El was thrown 70 passes last year, he only caught 50%. Both Chiefs WRs were well over 60% pass catching.

And we're supposed to believe the Skins will better that?

Puh-leeze.....

What is so hard to understand about our skepticism?

You completely ignore that I praise your OL and your RB. You completely ignore that I give Moss and Cooley credit. Instead you're uptight about my lack of faith in Lloyd as a viable #2 guy. I even said Randle El would make an impact on your Special Teams.

Does it bruise you to read anything other than glowing praise of the players you acquire? If so, then invest in some ice packs. Truth will be told here.

Nobody says the Skins will better anything except what we did last season. This isn't about what the players are going to become. All they have to do is do exactly what they have done and the Skins will have an improved offense.

ESPN, CNN/SI, etc are wrong all the time. Their predictions usually suck.
I do not hear that the defensive coordinators in the NFC east or around the NFL sound all that worried. Randle L MIGHT ratchet it up to 40 or so catches. I actually think there is a good chance that he might bust through and become the #2 because I think Lloyd is another bryant. Bottom line is though that these little guys going across the middle are going to get hammered by EVERYONE they play. Just how long will they last?

Oh, definitely. If lloyd can show up once every four games, and El can throw a pass twice a year, that should be great for you.
