The prob for Wash is the WRs have no size.

All three of our options are bigger than all three of the Colt's options. That certainly seems to work out for them.

Granted they have Manning and QB and we have Brunell, but thats not the WR debate.

I saw the stats about the WRs posted somewhere else, I haven't looked it up for myself. I'm trusting that it's accurate, though.

Oh, definitely. If lloyd can show up once every four games, and El can throw a pass twice a year, that should be great for you.

Yeah, it should. Last year, on a scale of 1-100, our number two and three recievers had an impact of...0.

Still a improvement for us.

:)

I don't care if those guys catch 20 each. We're taking the double team of Moss away and opening up the running game.

The Colts WRs also have amazing hands. Lloyd has suspect hands.

I'd prefer a big WR to a small one any day, but how do you fault a guy like Harrison? He's amazing. Certainly better than anyone else in the discussion.

Because your running game worked so well against us last season? I can't remember the stat line for rushing, and I might be setting mysefl up here, buit I can't remember Portis doing anything really amazing in either game.

Yeah, I'm simply negating the fact that the Commanders recievers are too small. If you want to say they don't have good enough hands, go ahead, there's no way I could argue for or against that. The recievers being to small, however, is a moot point, however, as other recieving corps have proved otherwise.

In the first game in your house we didn't do jack against you. But in the 35-7 game Portis had over 100 yards and a 4.9 avg. Plus, he had over 1500 yards for the season. I'd call that a solid year.

Actually, I've focused on hands more than stature all off season and it has gone in one ear and out the other so many times I've lost count.

I do like big WRs better. Always have. Unless they don't have good hands.

Guys Grant Paulsen is a 16 year old, I wouldn't really get bent out of shape over this

The WR group has the potential to be terrific, but can Brunell/Campbell get the ball there, will Lloyd get rid of those mental mishaps, can Randle-El flourish in this O, will Moss be happy with fewer catches this year

All questions remain to be answered

Now here's a reasonable response coming from a Commander fan.

here's a quote that was sent to me by a co-woker that is a Giant fan smacking the skins.....

"Even on paper this year, the Commanders are garbage. There offense is like a high performance ferarri, except they gave the keys to a 70 year old korean woman who likes to drive 40 mph with the left hand turn signal on.":lmao:

Missed those posts then. I personally am a fan of the speedsters- the Santana Moss and Steve Smiths of the league.

Anyways, I looked up the heights of the Colts and Skin's recievers.

Santana Moss 5'10, 190 lbs.
Brandon Lloyd 6'0, 192 lbs.
Antwaan Randle El 5'10, 192 lbs.

Marvin Harrison 6'0, 175 lbs.
Reggie Wayne 6'0, 198 lbs.
Brandon Stokely 5'11, 197 lbs.

The Colts have a slight advantage in height, but they still prove the point that an undersized WR Corps can get the job done.

Hos, I agree with you that most Skins fans over here will fail to see any praise that is offered to them, and would rather go for the throat after seeing a negative comment. Most of the Boys fans over here, however, also have a difficult time acknowledging the points the Skins fans make.

Here's my example. All the Boys fans talk down on Lloyd and Randle El, saying they're going to suck, and certainly not live up to their contracts. While no one can predict the future, these are respectable opinions. However, last year we had a nonexistant recieving corps beyond Santana Moss. Three fourths of the way through the season Moss was seeing double and triple coverage all game long. While many people may not be sold on Lloyd and Randle El, they are certainly proven enough to attract some attention on the field, and have some balls thrown their way.

That fact alone, is enough to convince me that the offense will be at least somewhat improved.

No, you're really not. There's not a team in the league that is going to double Lloyd or El on any play. There is no reason not to keep doubling Santana. I agree it's an upgrade for you, but no team has any reason to take a double team off Moss. The run game could open up, but I have a feeling team's are going to remain focused on stopping the run, doubling Moss, and letting their #2 and 3 corners handle El and Lloyd 1 on 1. Neither receiver has ever shown a necessity for anything more.

Combined with Saunders, of course. I think the Skins #3 WR spot has been incredibly improved. However, I don't think either WR is a huge upgrade over Patten. But, look at the Chiefs distribution to their WRs. Kennison got 108, Parker got 58, and Hall got 51. Lloyd alone had more passes thrown his way than Kennison. How do you think he's going to peform when that number is cut in half? Same goes for El, who had 70 passes thrown his way.

Combine that with the fact that Brunell isn't even on the same plane as Green (few are), and I don't see why everyone should be wowed by the Skins receiving corp. I think talent-wise, it's a bit better. But it remains to be seen how Lloyd and El react to their now much smaller roles in the offense.

You're arguing based on personal feelings. That's all fine and dandy but the truth remains that Lloyd has been the first option in the passing game his entire career with the 49ers. Teams were able to throw their #1 CB on him and even double him. That won't be the case here as teams will be forced to throw their #2 and #3 DB on him. If he doesn't fourish given that opportunity then I'll be screaming bust in 2-3 seasons.

You may be correct. Teams may continue to focus on stopping Portis. This can only help our passing game. Like I've been saying, we made the playoffs with two receivers, Moss and Cooley. Now we have more guys to throw to. Even with base level production from Lloyd and ARE we'll be a much improved offense from last season.

Brandon Lloyd's role in the offense is going to be dimished from what he had in San Francisco. Antwaan, on the other hand, is basically going to be seeing the same kind of production. Handling returning duties, third wide out, and the occasional trick play.
