Commitment to the Run

I'm so tired of hearing players and coaches from this team say that we're going to and we need to run the ball more etc etc. Ok SHUT UP and make it happen!!

Just because the running game doesn't get you 20 yards each play, doesn't mean it's time to abandon it! It's time to focus heavy on the running game and be committed to it. Stop with all the talking and wishing, please give me your thoughts!!!

You, one who perfumes the air and has insightful ways, are correct in yer thesis --- tha focus on running is crucial.
But not with Zeke.
59 yards per game average in 2021?
He's not getting younger.
I hope I am wrong. Wrong like botox lips.
holla

No team and I mean NO team in the NFL will ever again win the SB with just a dominant Running game!!!!!!!!
Any defense can scheme to stop it and its up to the passing game to gut them out with the long ball and make them bleed!
GL trying to run Zeke all season long at 2-3 yards at clip esp with this aging and young offline!!

It’s all about the Oline.
Hmmmm at some point we had 4 # 1 picks and a # 2 pick on our offline and a top 12 defense.
The best HB in the NFL.
What did it get us?
1 playoff win.......
P.S.If a defense doesn't fear the passing attack might as well go one and done!!!

We're not the Titans, we're not the Ravens. No run heavy team is winning the SB. All we need is to be able to run well enough for balance.

Therin the rub.
the fandom says
1. Zeke's a bum!
OR
2. Lingering injury! O line! Bad scheme!

Yes. run, run, run.
If we hope to even "run well enough for balance" then Pollard must be worked in, good chap.

Our running game needs to feature DAk a lot more than it did last year.
He absolutely has to threaten a defense and make them account for him.
This line will not tolerate him standing back there in indecision if there is open real estate in front of him he needs to take off and get yards.

As inconsistent as the offensive line was last year DAk did not do them any favors by holding the ball and refusing to run when it was there.

He runs like the Lego man and is in panic mode well you've seen the end results.....and they ain't pretty!

At this point he is fully healed from injury and has had a good training camp to concentrate on improving his game rather than rehabbing his injury so there should be no excuse for poor performance or bad decision making.

And part of that decision making is knowing when you can safely take off and get yards without taking undo risks.

This greatly takes a load off your offensive line by not making them try and block too long leading to holding penalties

He panics and looks to run in the Red-Zone 24-7......now as far as decision-making is concerned I figure a picture is worth a thousand words!

Oh oh here comes another Field goal........

Well the sledding gets tough in the red zone and we are going to need him at the top of this game along with Zeke.
With the oline truly being a question mark these guys are going to have to live up to their billing and be the special players we are paying them to be if we are to make the playoffs.
I believe if these guys are average and can't pull the rabbit out of the hat the eagles will take the NFC East from us because they are strong where it counts

Zeke had no business playing after the injury. Should have been Pollard's show until Zeke recovered, but for whatever reason we kept using Zeke. I am not sure how much of this Moore, seems more like a Jerry move to me.
I agree. Either way...playing your injured star.....stupid. If it's Moore, he's dumb. If it's Jerry, Moore is a wuss.

Not sure how special your special players are....if the o-line is "questionable". If zeke has to sidestep at the handoff all year AGAIN...well it's 2-3 YPC again.

What was proven by the Cowboys OL in the scrimmage versus Denver, is that our OL is not ready to open the lanes needed to run successfully. What is obvious is that we currently aren't nearly good enough to run with much success vs. the better teams in the league. We still have to acquire the veteran OTs needed to find success in the regular season. Ball was sorely ineffective, neither was Steele. Sorry, but that's not encouraging, in the least.

Here's hoping our FO sees fit to get the OTs we'll need going forward. If not, we can forget about relying upon our running game to find success this year. Again, I'm sorry to say so, but it appears to be much too true. The FO's refusal to tend to our needs at OT is proving to be a huge blunder! Let's hope the Dallas FO decides to correct this problem before it's too late (assuming it's not, already.) Jerry & Stephen -- where are you guys?!

Coogs, I would love to have a smash mouth running attack but the fact of the matter is that the talents of the o-line personnel dictate what the offense can do. It’s painfully obvious that this line is deficient at rush blocking but their pass protection is statically top 10.

Going with essentially the same personnel or worse won’t improve this condition. I’ve never been a fan of passing to set up the run but I can’t any other option here. The one thing that can help though, is cutting down on the penalties that have negated some nice runs…..of course the zebras control much of that

Yup. If you don't run the ball, the opposing pass rushers are getting an easy path to your QB where they can just pin back their ears and go.

He’s a warrior and the team loves him.
That’s nice of them, but he either sucks or he’s selfish.

I’m glad you were pleased with his mighty 2.6 YPC in the playoffs. Some of us have higher standards.

Define run heavy. Pats were 5th in the NFL in rushing when they won the 18 super bowl.

Mostly passing teams have won the ones since then, but that's primarily due to those teams being the best teams. Put a QB in TENN and they'd be a super bowl contender.

Some of you are clueless.

That is incorrect. Look at Emmitt stats. There were MANY games he started 5-7 carries for 25 yards. But they stayed committed to a robust run game...and he ends the game with 150+ yards. AND THE WIN.

When we played Tampa last year...the game was very clsoe at the end. Brady understood you STILL have to run the ball and not just heave it down the field.

It's not that you have to "run well to make the choice". What has to happen is no abundance of 1st down/drive killing penalties or turnovers that leave you 2-3 TDs behind early on.

You are being kind. There was many a game where Emmitt had under 30 yards on 10-12 carries at halftime. And the Cowboys would go right back to running it when the second half started. THOSE teams were committed to running the ball and understood that pretty much every defense starts every game overcommitting to stopping the run because they want to force you into being one-dimensional. When you encounter that you have two choices.. You can abandon the run and start slingin it every down, allowing the defense to dictate what you do.. or you can let them know they're going to have to defend the run all day and just because they jump into the A-gap or walk a safety up to the line right before the snap doesn't mean we won't still jam it down their throats. Now one of the biggest differences between the 90's teams and now is that team had Moose out there to know that safety or gap shooting linebacker into the middle of next week before he ever sniffed Emmitt. Now we don't eve have a fullback on the roster. So it falls to the tight ends to block these guys... Sadly we have not had actual good blocker at tight end since Marty B left town. That tells me that despite all the lip service they do.. this team really does NOT want to run the ball consistently or well. They do it as window dressing .. Which is why when they really need it, it consistently lets them down. Any real success they have depends on Zeke or Pollard to do something superhuman.. And guess what.. the other teams have some superhuman guys of their own..

Couldn’t dispute one thing I said.

“DURRR YOUR CLUELESS ANYWAYZ”
:lmao2::lmao2::lmao2:

NFL players, coaches, scouts and GMs ranked him outside the top 10 RBs. They’re clueless too!!!!
