I had a very similar situation as a coach.....unfortunately, I'm not allowed to share it....but, I will say this. Dak is the starter for a reason, when he is 100% or at least close to it, he needs to be on the field. Rush has done a great job and KM has too. My hope is that KM learned that he doesn't need for Dak to throw 70% of the time. I hope that Dak has learned to be patient and not check into passing plays as much. I feel that he is constantly trying to justify his contract...he needs to wipe his butt with his haters and just play football.

I agree with you on some of this, but Dak is the starter for the wrong reason(s).
He came in with Ezekiel Elliot behind the best line in football, and was made to look much better than he is by that. Some of us warned that he was not what he was being made out to be, but Jason Garrett was desperate to believe Dak would justify his job.
Dak was anointed as a phenom, even made team captain in his second year. But he wasn't made to play behind the second string line in preseason, and was coddled from that point.
But year after year he has choked when the game gets too big for him, choking away division titles to inferior teams. He has shown his ineptness, but nobody wanted to see it.
If you watched his film from college, you can see he should never have been drafted. He plays identical to the way he played in college, taking the easy teams by storm, but choking against good teams.
So any argument that he "is the starter for a reason" is null and void.
Rush has shown real leadership on the field, and is an accurate passer- something even Dak's college coach said that he wasn't.
Sometimes people know how to work the system and get ahead, but they don't deserve it.
Dak doesn't.

I showed him Emmitt Smith's number of carries and he promptly put me on ignore.

With 12 carries a game.....Zeke will NEVER reach those numbers again. Neither would Emmitt. But he's always done what we asked him to do. Putting his body, numbers, and career on the line blocking for the o-line and playing hurt. Now playing team ball with reduced touches....

nary a complaint.

My guess is that Jerry is just trying to lead his circus tent by way of feigning the possibility of Dak playing when MM has already stated he needs a full week of practice first.
