Of course he is.

Not if you followed the cowboys from 04.2021. But if you followed them for longer an then judge the decissions by our FO he sure is a wasted pick.
We invested enough draft picks into the LB position in the last years so we shouldnt have been in the position to draft a LB.

But then there is SJ and JJ and reality kicks in.

Ridiculous take. Just because the other LBS have failed doesn't mean you pass on the one that was the best in the draft and the best player available at the time.

And oh yeah, Surfside wasn't available when we picked so there's that too.

remember diggs struggled a bit early was hit and miss and as he got comfortable he got better..KJ has the same tools and hes simply up and down ie inconsistent but hes slightly better then wright IMO as fas as natural coverage skills go etc but yes wrights looking better at the momenet..guess in real games Gamers step up ..i believe KJ is better but this is great situation to have with young dbs playing well, future can be bright..

KJ reminds me bit of Bjones nothing spectacular to the eyes at times but solid in every category athletically etc...its early..2 more weeks etc but i image DQ has an idea of his starters and role guys already..

my take on this is the draft went perfectly the top two CBs not falling to us was blessing getting Parsons, a pick that basically turned into wright and get KJ...we got it all instead of just one of the corners

Nashawn not KJ

He is the best LB. Thats not my point and it wasnt a knock on him.

It was a wasted pick as i already explained. The point is that the other LBs all had injury issues. Especially Smith wasnt on most NFL drafting boards because of his injury. LVEs neck issues were known for a long time.

Parsons woulndt have been needed if our FO had made a better job. Where "better" is a affront to the word itself when you look at our FO.

He will get lots of reps so he will have plenty of opportunities to prove it.

That we dont know but we all hope.
Still it doesnt change what we know right now. So to demand a higher grade for him is not ok.

Yes you are right - "we shouldn't be" but unfortunately - we are.

Smith is done for whatever reason, he's done, and LVE is a big hit away from not being resigned, besides his only good year was as a rookie.

Parsons is a difference maker and top 2 CBs were gone.

You are right. And i am not unhappy with Parsons. Just because of the history of our LB picks i cant agree with it.

And i wouldnt have taken one of the 2 CB with our pick either. Neither of them were considered top 10 talent. Surtain was a top 15 pick on most boards. The other one 15-20.

Diggs
Joseph/Brown .. This is closer than most want to believe at this point, things can change dramatically by week 1.
Lewis
Wright
Canady
This is exactly what I was going to say. I was reading all the comments to see if anyone had said it first. The staff has a comfort level with Brown that is being completely dismissed here. I MIGHT flip Wright and Canady, but I'm not sure.

The corners right now in order:

1. Diggs
2. Wright
3. Canady
4. Lewis
5. Brown
6. Joseph
7. Goodwin

Wright looks impressive, and Joseph is struggling. Canady is a great find and should unseat Lewis as the slot guy. Brown might have a tough time getting on the active roster. Goodwin is the special teams demon.

Wright is not #2.

If the season started tomorrow, Canady or Brown would be outside starting opposite Diggs.

Horn will have a better career than Surtain.

I expect Surtain to be a lot like Dre Kirkpatrick, Mark Barron, and Minkah Fitzpatrick. Alabama secular tend to underperform in the pros.

Fitzpatrick is arguably one of the best safeties in the league.

You're going to quit taking a position in the draft because you've failed on it in the past? Tell me you're joking.

Here's what you're missing: Parsons is a generational talent that you are an absolute fool if you pass on.

Not yet. That kid can play, and it won't be long.

His ceiling is a backup, situational starter. I suspect when all is said and done, Joseph will be starting opposite Diggs. Canady or Brown will start the season, with Joseph taking over at some point barring any injuries.

You had Barron in the same post.

Me thinks you didn't realize that Fitzpatrick was actually a high level safety.
You thinks incorrect. I actually meant Barron, Kirkpatrick, and Kareem Jackson. I don't go back to see where my mistake was again

My point is, Alabama secondary guys can be overrated coming out because they played with so much talent in defense and the fact that SEC quarterbacks aren't historically great passers. It can be misleading.

Its funny people are butt hurt over the Parsons pick but there’s a very strong possibility that he’s the best player on the defense in a couple seasons. Can’t please everyone I guess.
No, he's what everybody thought.

People are butthurt because we have to keep drafting linebackers because they either suck, are injury prone, or both.
