Coughlin-led Giants won't let us in

Some teams and players just know when to turn it on when it matters most and when they get the opportunity.
Hate them all you want, but the Giants are that kind of team, and Eli - despite all his faults - is that kind of player.

When much of the fan base is suffering from battered wife syndrome for the last 20 years, that should not be shocking.

Not shocking in the sense some will never believe until that moment we hoist the Lombardi and until that point they'll just remain to be that disgruntled fan in Major League 2 "they'll blow it in the 9th". More power to them.

Oh, I don't like our odds at all.
It's doable, but the odds are long.
I was just pointing out his affinity for always mentioning Eli's SB MVPs, etc.

He has given the Giants something us fans want.... I WANT.... You Understand? Twice!
All we do is say Romo is better and it's everyone's else's fault why we haven't won super bowl with him.

They are a tough team led by a tough coach. People claim his style is outdated/tiresome but the players that matter still seem to respond.

I don't put anything past the Giants.

They have a franchise QB who can get hot, very very hot.
They have 2-3 TE's who all make plays, along with some hard-nosed RBs.
They have a franchise WR who can score from anywhere on the field, and they have other receivers who contribute and one on the way back from injury.

On defense, they have been decimated by injuries, but they are now getting some pass rush and depth with JPP, and they have good special teams.

The NFC is up for grabs, not just the East. Unless you believe the Panthers are as good as their record, there's no one in the NFC that should scare the Giants or the Cowboys should the playoffs be in the cards.

Giants are not a good team and despite those two fluky SB wins, their recent history tells you they're more liable to choke things away than nail it down.

Do your job and it takes care of itself.

I know you've always had issues with Romo.
It's even got really ugly at times.
I get it.
That's your right.

And yes, I envy the Giants more recent SBs.

They were 3-3 last year in the final six games to finish 6-10. They were 3-3 the year before to finish 7-9. They were 3-3 the previous year (which resembles this year) to finish 9-7.

I think the belief that the Giants are that kind of team is just the leftover impression from years ago. They've done it before, so they can do it again. Well, yeah, but they've also done being average down the stretch over and over again, and they can do it again.

Coughlin has been willing to change his offense TWICE in order to help Eli Manning. He changed to Kevin Gilbride to get Eli from having to throw the ball long all of the time and then switched to Ben McAdoo to make the passes shorter and quicker to help Eli.

I'm not saying we need to overhaul the offense like the Giants, but some changes are necessary. We refuse to move receivers around and to run a gadget play to help spark the offense. Coughlin also knows how to manage players in the game. You wouldn't see Murray getting 436 carries in a season no matter how great he was under Coughlin. He would plug in Randle and Dunbar to take away some of the carries. He wouldn't have us running the ball 80% of the time on first down and then mostly throwing out of the shotgun when we are passing.

He would also probably defuse the situations between the media and the players. He would probably understand that a player who is in the middle of contract negotiations and the media reports an untrue rumor that he has a tape far worse than the Ray Rice tape...has not exactly protected the player. Or that the media claims that he was celebrating an injury (again, untrue), may make the player a bit upset at the media so find a way to diffuse the situation before it ever starts because that is YOUR locker room.

There are certain things that Coughlin wants done his way. But those are outside the actual games. Stuff like discipline, energy, being accountable, etc. I believe Garrett has those in him. But, Coughlin is very open to changing the way they do things on the actual field of play if they think it can improve the team.

YR

Gilbride was the only OC Eli ever had until last year.

Lol, 2 SB wins is definitely not luck
As an organization/coaching staff/team, they have been better than the Cowboys the last 6-7 years
No amount of homerism can take away that fact

They hadn't beat Dallas in 3 years until catching them without Romo. Even then it took a ridiculous performance from a guy making his first start at QB.

It was my concern last year that they would get their act together this year.

This is what I see:

1. Coughlin getting a lot from his players. Especially defense.
2. Giants have had lead in final 2 minutes of what, 4 losses. These fudgers could be 9-1.
3. I really hate to think the Eli/Giants go for 3rd super bowl... Vs... Who else..... The ones they arevthevdaddy to... The pats.

I may have to move out of New York if gumby ends up with 3 super bowl wins.... 3 sb mvp's... And Romo never even gets to one title game.

You can't use the argument of them having leads in all their games and say they could be 9-1.
Might as well say we could be 8-1 since we have had a late lead in every game except the pats game

We appreciate your optimism.

Their offense can keep them in games, but their defense is just as bad as ours, probably worse even. They only reason they were in that Pats game was because the Pats had to adjust their offense on the fly when Edelman went out.

"Issues" thats cute.

Listen, when you got jagoff Jim Rome saying things that have happened. Ie. playoff "issues: with Romo. I wont list them. It pisses me off that they happened and that htey are true.

Then we have this other jagoff, Steve Sommers on NY radio.
This guy get so much joy out of the "mishappenings" of the Cowboys and ESPECIALLY Romo... drives me nuts!

The last 20 years have been for the most part a mockery and embarassing. Many are quick to point it out because its true.

I want a SB win! Thats all. I dont care if Garrett comes back to play QB to win it!

I much rather prefer Romo does it and gets SB MVP...then goes back to back just to SHOW.... IT WUDNT NO FLUKE!!

I get what you are saying. The xfactor is Coughlin and Eli. I trust them more than Garrett and Romo.
Garrett and Romo are still my guys but I dont trust them.

Eh, Eli gets mildly hot sometimes. A game or two, maybe.

Their TEs and RBs don't really scare anyone. Not that they're bad, but nothing special. Vereen is the most dangerous.

What WR do they have on the way back? Cruz is gone.

They're still a bad defense.

I thought it was less questionable than the Dez catch. Bryant caught the ball, took a third step with it, switched hands and lunged toward the goal line.

Beckham caught the ball and got both feet down, but was stripped before he could make any further moves.

Personally, I feel like two feet down with possession of the ball should be the rule, but Dez's catch met the criteria of the actual rule IMO while Beckham's did not.
A catch with 2 feet down in the endzone should be a catch!
In the Endzone, A catch, 2 feet down, Dead Ball!
Makes zero sense that a receiver must become a runner in the endzone and yet a runner outside the endzone only has to break the plain without maintaining control.

...Oh & Dez caught it!

Not trying to wish any harm on Eli, that's not good karma - but he's due for an injury. Guy has been way too durable, I wouldn't mind seeing him get nicked up for 4-6 weeks and let them get a taste of that backup QB medicine.
