Could losing vs Detroit be a blessing in disguise?

Let me start by saying this:

I want Dallas to beat Detroit Saturday night. Badly.

But let's say we lose.

And let's say Philly beats Arizona the next day to clinch the NFC East.

That means we'd be locked into the 5th seed.

Which means we could treat our Week 18 game at Washington like a "bye week" of sorts, rather than playing that game to win and risking injury to our key starters right before the playoffs.

With our luck, they might even give us the Saturday night game for Wild Card weekend.

If we're being honest with ourselves, it's pretty unlikely the Eagles drop one of their final 2 games (vs Arizona, at NYG). So Dallas winning out will most likely not affect our playoff seeding.

Again: I want to win Saturday and keep the pressure on Philly. Beating good teams helps keep the team's confidence high and I hate the idea of potentially entering the playoffs on a 4-game losing streak.

But at the end of the day, is "confidence entering the playoffs" more important than "being as healthy as possible entering the playoffs"? It's certainly debatable.

Just offering a sliver of a silver lining in case the Lions ruin our NYE weekend.
How about if we throw away game against Detroit, and Philly loses to Arizona or the Giants? Always play to win.

Wish they would have believed it the last two weeks ...... we would already be in first
Exactly. They have shown they not only don't believe it but can't do it.

Rambo2: "if I just SAY it I'm a better fan than anyone else".

These people are sick.

I really don't give Jerry much credit for winning SB's prior to salary cap. Herschel Walker trade, Jimmy Johnson idea, was the catalyst.
Those moves didn't take a genius then. When Jerry and Jimmy took over his entire roster was old, old, slow, slow, expensive, and expensive. He needed a complete make-over and as fast as possible to even be successful. That took team work between the two...not just back patting. The task took both, not resumes for later. Jimmy had a turn-over record with Oklahoma, Miami, and then on to Dallas and later to Miami. He did make teams and left those behind.

He was committed to his players working their butts off and always working as hard as they could. He let it be known if he thought he received anything less than that players best. That principal applies now, even if a coach has a former trophy!

I think that the fans are much more fragile than the team.
I'm sure you're right. Most players make millions of dollars weither they win or not. Fans, on the other hand come from all walks of life and support their team to the best of their ability. Emotions most certainly play into the scenario for them (us).

What happened to all the little kid emojis? Did reality run out of them? You're actually talking to yourself.

The Dallas Cowboys are in the playoffs. Let's start off with that.
