Could somebody explain to me why this team drafted a TE in the 2nd round?

You can draft any position in any round.

You can but drafting premium positions with a premium draft pick should always be your fall back if the draft board is getting wrecked

Will McClay's job is to evaluate players. Not tell them who to pick. Example, this year it could come down to a DT, OLine and maybe a CB or WR in the first round, he could tell you who is the better over all player.

Jethro could then decide to go with the bigger need or the splash player to get more jersey sales. End of the day it is always going to be on Owner/GM Jethro to make the decision.

We continuously have to hear how great this team drafts, yet they never fix the glaring issues like DL, LB and being able to stop the run. The same garbage that’s been killing them for years.

GM Jethro believes high scoring games are exciting and sell more tickets. He is a skills player GM. He sees little value in the trenches.

He does not want a low scoring physical game approach and then wonders why we lose to those types of teams.

Have you actually seen Schoon?
If you have a chance to draft a possible exceptional talent regardless of position, you take the dart throw.
Give Schoon more than a rookie glance, TEs in this league are a commodity, and just what if we got a stash with Ferg, Schoon, and others.

Because they are dumb. I asked this many times during the season.

We had plenty of blow out games this year to get him some quality reps and involved in the game plan.

We are just not a well run organization. Why was Schultz never involved in the game plan until he was the starter?

I seen enough in Ferguson in 2022 to know he was going to be a stud this year. It still seemed like it took us 5 or 6 games to figure it out.

Improve blocking was the primary reason. Add an additional receiving threat at TE was the secondary reason.

No it wasn't lol. No one takes a blocking TE in the top 60. They like LaPorta who is a receiving TE.
