Could teams be holding Micah on purpose?

You know how hard blocking is? Being an offensive lineman was the hardest thing I'd ever done in my life

The defender can rip, swim, grab you, throw you and you can only rely on technique so one game I held and got away with it

I was amazing on defense and can tell you, yes linemen will hold on purpose if they can get away with it, it happens on every play for a reason ....

Now with Parsons? They don't care that he's being held it's obvious which is why he's always talking about it, he has that right....he's being put in the sleeper and In the figure four and no ones calling it

...I bet this changes now. Thanks to Blandino bringing it out.

I say, Micah gets 2 calls this game.

Yes which is why I want them to put him in the middle more. Confuse the line whether he’s coming or not. They wanna double a guy that’s not blitzing feel free.

You can do so much more with him in the middle of the defense.

Instead of leaving him on the edge to face the other teams best tackle… or leaving him there to be doubled and held.

Passing downs he’s on the edge but he can be so valuable in the middle

If I were a defensive coordinator I would just tell my guys to hold until the refs prove they're going to call it, because otherwise Micah is going to annihilate whoever is across from him on nearly every play.

It would be dumb not to.

I agree and would do the same....I'm not taking a risk with a generational pass rushed, hold him until they call it twice

It's probably a lot like the Seahawks' defensive mindset a few years back. We're going to manhandle you up down the field and dare officials to flag every illegal contact. They know the officials are not going to do that.

I do think the technique used in this photo is often what teams try to employ against Parsons. Use two offensive linemen to hook him from each side so they can technically hold him together without drawing the foul. This is a play where I can't blame the officials for not calling holding, although 70 has his hand up under Parsons' face mask.

Of course. ITs smart. If they aren't going to call it why not? I mean honestly? How many times do refs even call holding? Probably in your best interest to do it regardless of who's in front of you if they aren't going to call it.
I'm wondering if he may start getting the calls during the playoffs. Look there's not a player in the league like Parsons. Teams have had trouble how to block him and IMO referees know this which is why he's not getting the calls. Maybe, just maybe they will start calling it in the playoffs to send a message of what to expect next season. I know it sounds a little crazy but...........

Face to the hands on that one. We got lucky they missed an easy 15 yarder.

I'm watching for that too. We are at home too.....I have a feeling he's gonna get one or two holding calls on Sunday.

Where are the stats on this. What other players like JJ Watt and such, are they not getting the calls either?

I like how that still shot was actually not a hold when you run the video. And Micah posted it on his social media to boot.

As for on purpose, it's in the rules that holding chances could be exempted during a double team. So I'd double team him all game if I was an offense.
Explain how that is not a hold. This should be good.

If the refs aren’t calling it then of course they’ll keep holding him. Such an unfair advantage to have the leagues best pass rusher negated by the refs.
