It didn't. It wasn't Terrell Owens.

Sean Taylor was suspended.

There's no defending Owens, but what's new. Everyone knows he's a classless moron so this incident shouldn't surprise anyone.

Does anyone know what the NFL's past precedent regarding spitting penalties is?

He'll probably get a 15 to 25k fine. That's what they did with Romo in Oakland. I doubt he gets Sean Taylor treatment "suspended". Taylor is a known thug, Owens is simply a moron.

We weren't talking about the punishment. We were talking about the media coverage.

Said Tom Jackson: "I personally would rather have someone sucker punch me in the face than spit on me. I can get over that bruise

Is Jackson a complete idiot? I'm not for getting spit on, but a sucker punch can serious affect somebody's health. I've seen more than my fair share of people either have permanent damage or serious damage done to them from getting hit with a sucker punch.

Yes...but ANYONE who's played football knows this stuff goes on all the time.

Anyone except, Rod Woodson, Darren Woodson, Deion Sanders, Marshall Faulk, Jamie Dukes, Mike Ditka, Tom Jackson, Michael Irvin, Ron Jaworski...

Are any of you who are trying to excuse this action by Owens going to take into consideration that EVERY ex football player who's been asked about this incident has taken Owens to task for it?

Geez, the only reason why this topic keeps on appearing and reappearing is because people don't simply say "Not cool" and leave it at that.

EVERY ex player interviewed has strongly criticized Owens.

And notice, NONE have said anything about Hall in this. AND HALL IS A JERK! So you can imagine how lame this action was by Owens that no one, except people here, are trying to excuse what happened by making Hall the bad guy.

Nothing New Today.......

Just the same old same old..........TO apologist condoning a classless act by a member of his favorite football team........priceless.

Somewhere there has been " a failure to communicate" and that is Sportsmanship ......give me a player that demonstrates good sportsmanship and character any day of the week.

Just say "NO" to the player that is a constant embarrassment to the organization with his defiance of those principles.

You don't have to have played football to understand, as in all professions, there is an unwritten code of behavior.

Spitting in a player's face is most definitely beyond the pale. I doubt you could find a player who says it's 'ok', even in the heat of battle.

Spitting indiscrimnately, however seems not to be. I think it was (don't quote me)Koren Robinson who earlier this season spit some gatorade on the sidelines and it showered a cheerleader. He was asked to apologize, and did.

It also seems that spit is acceptable when it's not going to hit it's mark. Or when it's aimed at unruly fans. Bryan Cox once infamously spit from the field at the Buffalo crowd which was hurling racial epithets at him. And the much loved Charles Barkley spit in the direction of a hoops audience once, and the spittle landed on a four year old girl.
Not one of Sir Charles finer moments, but he profusely apologized and implied it as meant for a few hecklers. :D

It's spitting directly in the face that blows fuses.

Because spit in general in pro sports (disgusting sidelines hawking) is pervasive.:lmao2:

One constant... They're all talking heads. Most of them would rather blend with the masses on the issue than go out on a limb and risk being ostracized. No surprise there...

Sadly I'm with you.

I love talking Dallas Football and being a fan, but when Terrell Owens name comes up its a total embarrassment.

Yeah...whatever...

Irvin..Sanders...last night I read their opinions didn't count because they had their own character issues...

Irvin doesn't go out on a limb huh? Did you HEAR what he heard for supporting Owens after that interview? Did you see him go at it with Tom Jackson?

Never mind.

I'm going to go outside and look for UFO's.

Good luck winning a Super Bowl by fielding a team of cookie cutter cowboys with great character that have never done anything wrong in their lives and all graduated from boy scout college.

Nope.

Tom Jackson was spot on.

A sucker punch and spitting on me would both P*ss me off mightily, but when you spit on someone that just takes it to another level.

TO is nothing but a childish, paranoid and insecure human being who never feels like he has done anything wrong.

He is Quincy Carter as far as personality, except he plays Wide Receiver and he has way more talent.

If someone sucker punched me I would be ready to fight em, but if you spit on me I am ready to kill you.

That's just me and Tom though.

I'm not defending what he did. It was awful. Disgusting. Whatever you want to call it. But I leave it up to Mr. Jones to decide whether he stays or goes. I just know we don't have a viable option to replace him in free agency and hoping for a 1st or 2nd round WR draft pick to make up for those numbers is really expecting A LOT. Boldin's and Colston's aren't the norm.

This incident will garner more attention than anything "the killer" for the Rams has ever done. Imagine that.

Again...take the discussion to an extreme...and then base your point of view on that. That seems to be the MO...or blame Hall...or blame the big bad media.

Hall is a jerk.

The media is a bunch of bottom feeders.

Both true.

But this is simple stuff.

Owens behavior, IN THIS SITUATION, was wrong.

Done.

What he means to the team....what his character is all about...past players...blah blah blah blah blah...means nothing...and has no relevance here.

In THIS situation, standing on it's own, he was wrong.

Geezlouise.
