The author tried, but couldn't keep their recency bias out of the top 10 and the list in general. A lot of those guys don't belong in the top 50 like Jackson for example. Not even top 100.

Thoughts?

https://newarena.com/nfl/counting-down-the-50-greatest-quarterbacks-in-nfl-history-2/

Cowboys on the List:

42 Tony Romo
14 Roger Staubach
12 Troy Aikman

QBs who wore the jersey but are not True Cowboys
50 Drew Bledsoe
39 Randall Cunningham

There are definitely a lot of headscratchers there from my perspective.
Romo > Bledsoe?

Is interceptions what sets them.apart?

You keep nagging about lack of championship appearances. He went to three straight. Went toe to toe with Montana. Romo choked in the playoffs just like Dak.

And what is it to you? You seem more sensitive than usual
Romo has one of the best career playoff QB ratings overall.
just didn't get there enough

I really don’t understand how anyone could rank Rich Gannon ahead of Ken Stabler who’s in the Hall of Fame. Gannon had one big season in 2002 where he won MVP and got the Raiders to the Super Bowl. However, he threw 5 INT’s in a blowout loss to Tampa. Stabler was a great QB and Rich Gannon wasn’t.

Cant compare stats before 1978 and after. Besides teams running the ball half the time, the new pass blocking and pass interference rules made it much easier to throw the ball after that.

not to mention no longer allowing the mugging of either the QB or the WRs

sort of like Dak did; both in 16 and last year
What? OMG get Dak outnof your head. You are daksessed. This was about top 50 QBs and Dak nowhere on the list. My argument that Danny White was better than Romo. Romo was a stat collector. Danny White led Cowboys to three straight NFCCG.

Geez dude the world doesn't revolve around Dak, but you people are just amazing

He’s a two time mvp and the best running quarterback of all time…….you can’t name 100 guys better…

It goes both ways though. These athletes of today are superior to what they were in the 70s.

I don’t necessarily agree with that. They are putting up better stats because of rule changes.

Some of those QB’s in that era would truly light up the stat sheet this era.

I’d take Montana, Staubach ,Unitas, Starr and Elway over Brady, Mahomes, Peyton, Rogers and any other QB this era you want to throw in there.

I can’t say that. I agree rule changes have helped statistics but I can’t sit here and say Mahomes is only productive because of rule changes. He’s a gifted thrower of the football. I don’t see how his skillset wouldn’t translate in the 70s….
