When we signed Bledsoe to be the starter last year, we should have sent Henson to NFLE because we all knew he wouldn't be playing QB this year.

Nevertheless, I think it is definitely the right thing to do. 2006 is going to be Bledsoe's again so we should be working towards getting Henson ready for 2007. Besides, it will get him away from the idiots who decided to change his throwing motion only to realize they made a mistake and have him revert back to his old mechanics.
Just for the record, WHO were the ones who wanted to change his throwing motion anyway???

This is not clear but my hunch is David Lee - he took over the spot from Payton who used to be QB coach last year. I think Lee previously did some tape work for the team. I think he talked quite a bit about success he had in the past while at U Arkansas working with the QBs there.

GEEZ, I was wary when they did that and now even more worried that Henson will really be screwed up. I hope he recovers from this debacle!!! I can understand "refining" or "smoothing" one's throwing motion BUT to change it entirely??? That's how he's been throwing since he was a kid; it was natural for him! Damn.....hope he recovers. :(

Ok with the talk about Henson to NFLE the first thing I thought of was Parcells hopes he does good so it gives him better trade value.

Drew Bledsoe is not slowing down at all and it does not look like he is anywhere even close to slowing down. He could have 4 more prime years after this year. By the time Bledsoe is past his prime Henson will be 30 and then by the time Henson would have the NFL figured out he would be 32 or older.

There is on reason to break up a good thing with Bledsoe. BP will upgrade the OL big this off season to protect and build around Bledsoe for some Super Bowl runs.

To me when BP sends someone to NFLE that means they are as good as gone. They are done with the team.

IMO we will draft our QB of the future in the 1st round of 2007 or 2008 so he can learn a year behind Bledsoe before taking over.

Seriously when Bledsoe is done why hand the team over to a guy who will be 30 and only have a few years left when you can hand it to someone 23 to 25 who will have 10+ years of good football.

Parcells sends Henson to NFLE only to hope he does good so he gets a better trade for him.

What do all of you think.

and 2, there's a reason Henson has an 8-year deal

I mean, what business do Parcells and Jerry Jones have being in the NFL, if they were to invest in a young player, when they know it's going to be a process, but then dump him before he even gets a chance? plus Parcells covets draft picks, now why would he just waste one all of a sudden?

Poor Henson was paid NFL min $ first 2 years - in fact I think he has yet to see a penny on his bonus. He has guaranteed money of approx. $3M+- ....Henson signed a 6th round type contract in hopes of voiding to get the $. Has not panned out for him.

Yep it is such a joke that Kurt Warner; Brad Johnson; Jake Delhoume have all played there and all 3 have been starting QB's 2 of them indrafted FA and one who was a 9th round pick which is the equilvalent of a non drafted player and you also realize Brad did not even start at FSU when he was drafted bahaha those are to name a few.

Now if you want to say the majority of the QB's in NFLE do not have the talent for the next level I agree but it is not always the case there are some who prove other wise. Any ways onward and upward

For the 3 you list - there have been 250 guys who never made it. And other than Warner for a few seasons no Franchise QB in that lot.

You don't send a franchise type QB to NFL Europe two years later......unless?

this is actually thebest point ive seen. Henson is gonna take awhile to learn, how old is he gonna be by the time he ever comes around? Kinda like Volek. By the time it actually got to be his turn he's already 30. henson is gonna be 27 in 2007 which is at the very earliest his first chance to start. Not too sure we'd even want him by then. I would love to get a qb in 06 or 07, to be the real backup to Bledsoe, I just dont ever see Henson becoming a starter for us. Brady Quinn is atm my dream pick however not too sure that is gonna happen, he will probably be #1 pick in 2007.

Summer here is why Henson is as good as gone.

Bledsoe is showing no signs of slowing down. He is ranked #1 in the NFC and in the top 5 in the NFL. He is doing a very good job and it does not look like he will be slowing down any year soon. He might have 4 more prime years left in him after this year.

So why break up a good thing. Parcells is gonna make huge improvement on the OL and build this team around Bledsoe for a few Super Bowl runs.

By the time Bledsoe is past his prime Henson is gonna be 30 years old. By the time he gets up to NFL speed he will be around 32 years old and only have a few prime years left.

I would have loved for Henson to be our QB of the future but it aint gonna happen.

Parcells is sending him to Europe hoping he does good so it makes his trade value better. That is all.

Look for us to draft our QB of the future no later then the 1st round of 2008.

Just don't know how productive the game is for a QB in NFL Euro. Who is the last person that asended to an NFL starting position via NFL Euro?

When is the last time a potential 1st rd QB pick opted to play baseball? Not everything has to be common to happen.

Parcells has a well chronicalled and cynical opinion on NFL Europe over his career.

Its the exception that emerges into a good NFL player.

why was Henson given an 8-year deal? is Parcells lying when he says it's going to be a process? is Jerry for saying the same thing?

remember Rich Gannon? QB isn't different from your typical skill positions, such as RB, being young isn't a must-have, experience although, is...

I don't think we'll ever be in a position to draft Quinn, and I hope we aren't, I like watching the Cowboys win games ;)

read his books - listen to all his press conferences. I have

I'm not doing the work for you.
He's not sending his "stud" prospects there. He has an old school view and the NFL Europe is a last gasp minor league vehicle.

In fact - compile the list of players he's sent over there and you'll answer your own question.

Keith Davis the somewhat exception but a kid who played very well there I believe.

In other words there is no proof to what you claimed.

Gotcha.

Nice job on the Keith Davis example. That and a couple of other players sinks Wolverine's theory. Not that I had any doubt.

You never know what can happen with Henson.

He goes over to NFL Europe and puts up really good numbers, gets some confidence....

Everyone thought the Rams were done when Trent Green went down and Kurt Warner came in. Next thing you know, the Rams win the Super Bowl.

I agree, Bledsoe looks like he has a few years left, but never say never with Henson.

If he tanks in NFLE, which he won't, then that's another story.

If our next starting QB is on the roster right now, my money's still on Henson.

Yeagh Hos - GREAT news your boy Henson is going to NFL Europe.

At his season-ending news conference, Parcells said Hutchinson could use all the snaps he can get.

"He is going to play over there," Parcells said. "Now, quite frankly, it's been my experience if a guy goes over to Europe and he can't play over there, he is going to have a hard time playing over here."

As much as you'd like it to be so Nors, Drew Hneson is NOT Chad Hutchinson.

BTW, the word is spelled yeah. There's no G.
