Last game we rushed 3-4 the entire game. How many sacks are you gonna get when you do that?

I think his only limitation will be if they don't play him right away. If so he'll make an impact against Gronk and the rest of the cheaters.

I think McClain's snaps will be limited. I don't know how much we'll limit Hardy, because we need his pass rush so badly.

Depends on the 3-4 you're rushing. If it's Jack Crawford, Tyrone Crawford, Nick Hayden and DeMarcus Lawrence, not that many at this point.

Tyrone's the primary threat at the moment, but he's not going to be a 10-plus sack guy. Lawrence needs to find his stride at left end. Nothing should really be expected of the other two.

Mincey adds some to the pass rush, but he's not exactly great. Hardy and Gregory should make Tyrone and Lawrence better because they will force the QB to move in the pocket (stepping up or stepping to his right), which will give them opportunities to finish the play.

You do realize that neither hardy nor gregory are playing, right?

The Cowboys invested a #2 on DLaw to help improve their pass rush and he has yet to register a regular season sack.

Has our dline gotten worse? Specifically we didn't have Lawrence , Gregory, or Hardy last year but we recorded more sacks through 3 games.

One reason the Cowboys have had fewer sacks after 3 games this season than last season is the QBs they've faced this season as opposed to last season. Last season the 3 QBs they faced suffered a lot of sacks. Kap suffered 52 sacks in 2014 and the Cowboys only got to him once. The Cowboys got to Jake Locker twice in week 2 who had a history of getting beat up. Austin Davis got sacked 29 times last season in only 9 games but the Cowboys didn't get to him once. This season they faced Eli on opening day and have never gotten many sacks on him. The Cowboys have only sacked him twice in his last 69 attempts against them. In week 2 the defense disrupted Bradford but only sacked him once and in week 3 the Cowboys were having so many issues stopping the run they got very little pressure on Ryan sacking him only once.

The injuries to our DL really hurt our current sack production because our defensive scheme is based on DL talent able to make plays behind the LOS. Hardy - Crawford - Mincey - Gregory is going to be hard to block, and with Lee - McClain making plays behind them our front 7 will be stout IF it is healthy.

The 90's Cowboys rushed Leon lett, Casillas, Tony Tolbert and Charles Haley ( mixed in some Chad hennings too)
That's 4 guys - and they got crazy sacks.

Not really. We had more than 38 sacks only twice in all of the 1990s. We've had more than 42 in four of the past eight seasons.

I guess teams are giving up more sacks now a days. During the early 90s ( starting w 1992) the Cowboys always ranked higher than average ( 16th in sacks). In 1992, they where second in the league w 47 sacks. Our 42 sack total would have been good for a top 5 dline every year, and we know our dline hasnt been a top 5 dline in 4 of the past eight seasons.

This is a perfect case where comparing stats from different eras can be misleading. There's is really no comparison between the early super bowl contending Cowboys line and the one currently constructed. I guess if the Cowboys Super Bowl years dline was playing now a days they would have like 84 sacks.

one thing to remember: due to FA and the Cap teams can no longer afford to keep O lines together like they did in the 90's and before. Back then while the Boys had the best O line there were half a dozen others nearly as good and another half a dozen very good and another bunch that was at least decent. NOW that number is a fraction of what it was. One of the reasons Watt is having such a great time is look at what he is going up against.

i want them to blitz sometimes, teams know our D is too predictable too .we are missing 2 good DEs and we are not getting there in time.

We haven't seen Hardy yet, Gregory only played in part of the first game and Mincey missed the last game. It's no surprise we're not getting much pressure. Right now, Tyrone Crawford is the only one we can depend on in that area. We've also lost one of our primary backups at tackle, so we're playing thin right now.

I think Lawrence will get better, but I was hoping for a faster start from him.

His assignment is not a sack heavy assignment anyway.
