News: Cowboys activate LB Damone Clark

Here's my issue with that. Then why not just stash him on the NFI list for a few weeks longer instead of starting the 3 week clock? If he isn't expected to play a role (due to health or otherwise) or only playing a STs role they should have left him where he was so he wouldn't take up a roster spot but they would still have the ability to activate him later in the year. Now we either IR him which would also be stupid as we could have just done nothing 3 weeks ago or we activate him and he takes someone's spot. So, if we activate him, there better be a plan to use him IMHO

I see that, and I suppose it could be good to give him one game before the bye week to see how he does, and let him use the bye week to practice more before the next game.

He could be the steal of the draft. I hope he is 100pct.
Having had that same surgery I can tell ya, he wont be 100% this year...mentally or physically. BUT in 2023 YES. What we can get is all gravy this year though. If we can get 85%-90% Clark THIS year, its a steal. No one thought he would be available this year. This is already a huge win. He might shock us all even more yet.

When did he have surgery ?

This journal suggest a 9 month wait. It takes 6 tp 12 months for the bone to fuse.

the kid is amazing. I had this cervical fusion in 2001. I'm now disabled permanently from it. The Technology they now have is wonderful. He has already surpassed my expectations.

So he’s Wolverine healing meanwhile James Washington is in week 12 of a 6-10 week injury for a toe
Be patient with JW. I know him a bit and his family in Stamford Texas. My son played him twice and he's an outstanding kid. He is tuff actually...just been snake bit I guess. If he can get on the field by Turkey day that will be great. He adds a speed element...and has a running backs build, like Deebo. He is the kind of player u wanna pull for.

I had C6 and C7 fused in the cervical, was up and about doing normal stuff 2 months after surgery. Granted I not playing ball but the recovery was pretty quick.

Oh I know he’s a good kid.

But when you didn’t get much of a camp due to injury, then are two weeks behind schedule which will likely turn into 4 because of the bye, your start to wonder can we upgrade over him

Wow. Yeah I had C5/C6 fused. I have no idea how these guys can even think about playing football again after such a procedure. It's actually quite remarkable.

I take it that when these players get into their 50's or 60's , they will be needing more neck work. I ruptured C3-C4 in 2000 and never got surgery and eventually the arms were less painful after 2 yrs. I am watching a neck youtube ATM and possibly will be having an AILF soon.

At 60, I still have to work to avoid neck surgery. Its never going away. An I wish you the best dealing with your pain.

The thought of the plate moving or pedicle screw loosening or breaking scares me. But these guys can easily get an MRI or CAT Scan and immediate care where we would have to wait months.

this guy is a low risk high reward player in the round he was taken in.. i really hope he can help be our future linebacker that replaces lve next year and save a draft pick.

as long as there are not other factors like Irvin had, they can return to the game with no greater chance of problems. In the case of players like Irvin when he had the herniated disk they saw he had a condition spinal stenosis, a narrowing of the spinal cord which put him a greater risk. Cervical is a bit easier to overcome and recover from than the Lumbar region because of the weight these guys carry.

Hopefully people keep their expectations in check for his first game.

Right now my expectations are not high because he is a rookie with no camp be it OTA or training camp. It appears Dallas will get him out there on special teams and work him in slowly. for the most part there were many who felt this was a red shirt season for him and likely would not see him playing, seeing him out there is just a bonus
