I remember getting upset during the pre draft of 2016 hearing Dallas was going to take Zeke. They had just signed Morris and McFadden had a solid year. That being said, Zeke has been exceptional since he has been in Dallas. He really should have won the 2016 OROY (Dak did deserve it). Had he not been suspended in 2017 he would have lead the league in rushing three years in a row. And being honest, our offensive line hasn't been all that great the last two years. It has been good but not the best in the league. I'm happy a deal is done. A few things:

1) I hope Dallas has an out after 2024. Zeke is 24 right now. He would be 31 in 2026. I can't see him playing at a top level that long. I think he has 5 really good years left. He is durable. I'm sure Dallas front-loaded the deal too.
2) I think running backs are making a comeback in this league. From 2001-2013 there were really only two great running backs (LT and AP). Now you have Bell, Gurley (Knee), Zeke, Saquon, Kamara, and CMC. Price tag will probably go up too.
3) He HAS to stay out of trouble. Period. There better be some kind of clause that if he gets in trouble then Dallas can say bye.

Thing I love about this franchise is that he still has a long way to go to be considered in the same breath as Dorsett and Emmitt. Zeke will probably be #4 in franchise rushing yards after this year and #3 after next year.

What are the details of the deal? What are his cap hits and when can the Cowboys cut him with the lowest amount of dead money?
coming soon this just hit an details left out.. all I know is only 50 is guaranteed..no big deal really..

I dont get all this up in arls over this deal, when JAG like goff gets 110 mil all guaranteed and zeke get only 50 , thats the real issues.. a QB now who is just good player and lets get that starting look at goffs last 7 games last ayear and the playoffs..pretty below average stuff right there.. who carried them through the playoffs, CJ and Gurley who ran over us CJ and Gurley..huh a RB carried the rams to the sb buit Goff gets 110 and we are raging mad Zeke got 50mil..

this is the issue..its QB money out of fn control

Once again, folks looking at the big numbers that mean nothing unless he’s still a super star and worth the money in 6 years. We have secured him through his prime in the next 4 years. Over that time, his average pay is fair and manageable. He gets big cash up front and guaranteed while we have the freedom to continue giving him a heavy load if needed.

If he starts to wear down, he’ll never see a huge chunk of that contract. And he upfront and guaranteed money also makes him tradeable in 3-4 years.

No.
He needs to factor in the current years remaining plus the new
Zelke is 12.9 million over 8 years
After 4 years, they can release him if the want and save about 50 million. If hes still ballin’ that wont happen, but they do have an out.

Exactly. He's showing his lack of seeing the big picture. Gurley's deal extended a two year deal to six. Zeke's extends a two year deal to eight. That's a lot more room to spread out cap hits and backload a deal so you can get out of it if you want or need to.

They probably will but this Zeke contract does say a lot of what they think of him...
And, hey, they are not wrong, this team needs him if they want to win.

No one is saying Zeke is not important to the team. Just also pointing out that just because the paid Zeke doesn't mean they don't think highly of Dak.

To think that was silly.
