Cowboys also close to extension with romo

If its true its not a bad deal. Considering the money getting thrown around recently

Yea, regardless of what some fans may say, Romo did have all the leverage in this negotiation. He knows that we have nobody else on the roster to replace him with, we have no young QBs being groomed, and there are no blue chip QB prospects in this year's draft.

Romo had the team by the balls and could have milked them for a lot more than for what is being reported.

Well look harder, its there on the NFC E twitter account run by Dan Garziano.

Thanks - I was looking at his personal twitter

4 years, $68 million, with $30 million guarnteed, per Graziano tweet.

Graziano is NOT the source for those numbers. He was re-tweeting this tweet from a guy named "Lex Haynes" who is just a random fan from Calgary. He doesn't appear to be a journalist and I doubt he has any inside info.

I agree with you but more cowboys outlets on twitter are saying its close to that

I was wondering why he would even re-tweet that and appear to give it credibility...

But do they have original sources, or are they simply parroting Graziano because they mistakenly believed he was speaking for himself and not a random schlub from Alberta?

15-17 mil/yr (with 40% or so of the contract guaranteed) seems to be the market value for romo, so the current numbers floating out there are a pretty average deal from the cowboys' perspective. but if it's true we can sign him for just 4 years, that's a win. this is romo's last big deal, so i'd think he'd want 5 years at least.

So is the 4yr $68 million just a made up number by a fan in Canada?

Looks like it.

Everything else I've seen on twitter has been re-tweeted from this made up number.

There's been nothing official anywhere.

Eatman did tweet that Huff was in the building about half hour ago, but nothing on Romo

Either eatman or another cowboys associate said huff won't leave without a contract

Wasn't it last year or maybe the year before when we reportedly had no interest in Huff?

Maybe that was Rob not liking him.

Say whatever you will about Jerry Jones, but you have to give props to him on the way he's kept this 8-8 nucleus intact!

Oh snap! Reality strikes again.

I can't imagine Romo signing less than a full 5 year deal.

If they can get away with a four year deal, that's a win-win.
Plus some were saying closer to 40 guaranteed, so that's a win too.
The 17/year is about exactly what most of us thought it would be...just 5/85 instead of 4/68.

if Romo takes that deal it says for sure he wants to be here and doesn't mind not getting everything possible to do so.

We'll see...it's all hearsay at this point.

He got 8 million a year with the Raiders, I doubt any of them liked him that much.

I would be shocked if this were the deal but I would also be very happy.

Exactly, he re-tweeted a fans twitter post from Canada man! Please take that with a grain of salt. The numbers will be bigger than that

Yeah, you have to love how we have no money to address our critical issues and will most definitely be entering the draft with several serious holes on the roster. Serious as in, if they don't get fixed, you have no shot to win anything this year.

I hope the draft breaks well for us. I hated last offseason. I've hated this one too thus far. It'd be nice to see something to get excited about.
