Im with you man. this is just crazy. i have never seen an owner/GM fight so hard to keep a 8 and 8 team together.a team that's missed the playoffs 5 of the last 6 years.it's like a nightmare that won't end.

You have to assume that they assume (I'm getting dizzy saying that) that last years 8-8 team is not what they will bringing back due to half the defense being out and new additons via this year and, to a lessor degree, last year....maybe a FA or two as well.
It could easily be 10-12 "different" players contributing vs what was there for more than half the games last year.

Lee (missed most the season)
Carter (made big leap but missed about half the season)
Ware (was hurt most of the year)
Ratliff (nissed most of the season)
Church (missed the whole season)
Murray (missed 6-7 games)
...
Costa (have my doubts but we'll see)
Johnson ('12 rookie who may help)
Coale ('12 rookie who may help)
Six 2013 draft picks--maybe 2-3 help?
Dez took a huge leap the second half of the season
Harris was coming on
I'm sure they expect big jumps from T Smith and Mo Clai and maybe Crawford
ETC, ETC

It could be delusional, but I'm sure that's the thought process.

Man talk about not getting it. This is such classic "fan talk" its not funny. Its a 3 point league, teams come back from the dead to win Super Bowls and instead of competing with a proven, competitive QB and team you want to dump it and start over. Typical fan talk without consideration to season ticket holders, suite owners or sponsors. Then you think we can magically get the next Russell Wilson and be an elite team Preston changeo! Fantasy football at its finest.

...and yeah he's proven and he's won a playoffs game and he can win more. Ask Drew Brees what is was like to be Romo this year without a running game or defense.

Its actually my fault for even trying - after all it is a "fan forum."

My bad.

Yep, 8-8 was fine with me last considering the training room looked like a combat hospital during the season. Not like mid-season you can find studs to replace injured guys. Talk about having to patch and patch with scrubs.

THis is starting to get interesting.

The Cowboys started talking about a deal being close in the middle of last week. Either it really is close. Or it's a smokescreen, and possibly the first step in the PR battle if the deal doesn't happen.

This should be a really interesting week.

I think it's more of media jumping the gun than anything else.

I would like to hope that Romo realizes if he creates a steep asking price for his contract that it would reduce his chances of making a deep playoff run for this team. He could ask for a boatload of money, but I believe Romo (and the majority of the core) want to be able to bring in a better supporting cast.

Financially speaking.

thats a good theory but there are no guarantees on where Jerry spends the extra money, Tony should get all he can

Bingo!

The deal will be done when nobody on twitter is saying the Cowboys are close to an extension with Tony. :laugh1:
