Having said all this....

The Cowboys still had Quinnen under contract for two more years so there really wasn't that big of a rush to get this extension done now. The timing and the sudden extra cap space at least makes you THINK they could be opening up room for a trade acquisition.

If you look at his sack trajectory the last few years, he's got about 1.5 or 2 in him for the whole season this year....and we don't want him burning even a quarter sack of that for a preseason game!

He's getting old, so we need to keep him fresh for when the games REALLY matter: October.
