Last year Dallas was in the drivers seat for the playoffs and it took the Eagles blowing all 4 tires for us to snatch the division.
Dallas this for the playoffs aren't even in the car. Would take multiple teams pretty much losing out with Dallas almost winning out.

NFC North is
10-1
9-2
8-3

NFC West is *** but:
6-5
6-5
5-6

NFC South is *** but:
6-5
5-6

NFC East is:
9-2
7-5

At least 10 teams ahead of Dallas with 3 wild card spots up for grabs.

It would take pure luck for the Cowboys to get in with 7 losses. As things currently stand with the NFC playoff picture, the last spot is probably going to a 6 loss team.

think the purpose of the thread is just that it’s still mathematically possible and with the easiest slate of games on deck. weird season. don’t think anyone believes that they’d make any noise. although the defense IS capable of high level play as they return to health
I mean, anything is possible, so I get it. Just seems highly unlikely.

Why? What a dumb thing to post.
Yea it won’t have any impact on Dak. Rush is playing for a job elsewhere as his contract expires this year. Unfortunately we are committed to Dak another 4 years.

The homerism and flat out stupidity of some so called fans never ceases to amaze me

They probably will have us a favorite to win it all if we beat the horrible giants team on Thursday

Jerry would surely love the site of Cowboys fans willing to believe in a team who has just 4 wins in late November. Because if he can get people to believe in a 4 win team, then he'll think his job is easier to get fans to buy into the 2025 Cowboys being serious playoff contenders. Without him actually doing anything to improve the Cowboys roster for next season.
This thread wasn’t intended to promote believing in this team. Just merely presenting the potential circumstances.

Some fans obviously just respond to a title not content .

I'd say you'd be right if we played a clean game. Blocked kick, missed kick, blocked punt, fumbles, and penalties. We got lucky. We also got two TDs without running a single play on offense. They had to miss an extra point for us to win. We gave them every chance to win, and they shot themselves in the foot.
More fans who didn’t read content of the post . Just responding to a title.

Knew this would happen after a win because it always happens when we are a bad team. It will be even more severe if we beat the Giants. This is why people hate Cowboys fans. Just stop. Please.

fools gold. don't fall for that.
we will probably beat the giants. because if there is any team in the league in much worse situation than us...its them.

but after that, I think we might be done, except having a 50/50 chance against panthers.
I’m not falling for it. Just reporting what I read this morning. Please read content of OP.

Amazing how many fans just respond to a title.

I’m not sure why some fans interpreted this as a presentation we would make a run?

The Cowboys have an equal chance to get into the playoffs as General Custer had at Little Big Horn! :muttley:
Actually, when you look at the schedules and look at the Cowboys getting players back. The Cowboys will be in the race with a win over the tanking Giants.

Currently of course. But the premise of this scenario was if they won the next 4.

At 8-7 it could place them back in the hunt.

A win provides a very slim glimmer of hope however unlikely it could be .

Each win will only support. Unless of course you’re totally against fans retaining some hope the season might not be over despite the probable odds it is.

That’s what winning does. It becomes infectious much like losing is.

Most likely we can’t or don’t win the next 4. But it certainly could make it interesting.

I get that. Just stating even if they win the next 4 their fate still solely relies on the other teams ahead of them.

Not like if they win out they are guaranteed a spot to the dance.

Assuming we win the next three games, the playoff "hunt" will end once we hit 7-7. We play Tampa (16), Philly (17), and Washington (18). Tampa and Washington will be fighting for their playoff lives, while Philly is probably still fighting for the #1 seed.

I expect Tampa to win the South (very easy schedule), Philly the East, Detroit the North, and one of either Seattle or Arizona to win the West. Green Bay and Minnesota will be wild cards. We have to leap over the second-place team in the West, South, and East for that last spot. So, if we somehow reach 7-7, we then must beat two of Wash, Tampa, or Philly...and hope that the right teams lose in the South and West. I don't see it happening. Philly will probably curb stomp us again. Can we beat Tampa, and then Washington a second time??
