Not sure either player is the swing tackle we really need.

And I am still amazed and dumbfounded that the staff absolutely refuses to work Collins at his college position.

If they aren't going to start him and he's only playing OG, Collins won't be on the 48 man active roster.

Seems like a waste of talent to not try to get him active.

Sorry, not buying the idea that Collins is any less than our sixth or seventh best OL. Sorry. Not going to fall for it.

But he doesn't fit the defense. You have to be able to move in Rod's scheme as a mike. Brinkley in his prime was always a plodder.

And a two down LB that was not going to participate on STs. He is the kind of player you pick up mid-season after you lose your MLB starter and need someone to plug in. Best guess I have is that they got more out of the Gachkar signing than they thought. He might end up starting at MLB if Hitchens cannot go.

Mills is better than Weems... but that's not saying much.

Certainly not close to be as good as Parnell.

Then what do you think is the problem?

Our staff is playing the long term game. Collins a huge potential asset. No need to hurry him along. We already have the best OL in the league. They played him some at tackle in OTAs and they obviously came to the conclusion that making him a guard and letting him focus on that was the best route. Teams dont activate there BEST 7 OL. They activate their best 5 and there 2 best SWING lineman. So, Collins may be our 6th best lineman, and not dress. No biggie.

When you only have 7 active OLs on game day, it's not necessarily about best unless he's starting. It's more about versatility. For swing tackle, it's about who can play LT best.

Hard to imagine you have the "best OL" in the league when your two top reserves who might play in a game are Bernadeau and potentially Weems.

I have no idea. I would love for someone to ask Garrett and especially him give a straight answer.
Broaddus always talks about his footwork being bad for a tackle. But your right, it seems unlikely that Weems or Mills is any better.
