33 rating in 2 career games with 4 ints!!!!!! All I have to say is wooooooooooooo.

Here are the numbers from the first two starts of two QBs you might be familiar with..

10-29 120 yards 0 TDs 1 INT
30-58 for 321 yards 1 TD 4 INTs.

The first one is for John Elway .. the second is Troy Aikman..

Those two seemed to have turned out okay despite stinking up the joint in their first two starts.

Peyton Manning threw 2 TDs and 6 INTs in his first two starts..

Struggling early on is nothing new for rookie QBs.. nor is it a death knell. Grier may never be as good as any of these guys.. but trying to decide if a guy is any good based on a couple of starts as rookie on a crappy team is silly.

I can't say how Grier will do but I have watched him when he was with WVU and I think the guy has some game. Not looking for a savior just a guy who can come in and backup to keep the ship righted should Dak miss any time. As for him taking over for more than a few games we likely would be in trouble unless the defense is playing great ball.

Mehhh im not impressed! But fits the mold of this organization not wanting to bring in a guy that might make Dak uncomfortable.

To bring in a guy whom would make Dak uncomfortable you would have to spend bigger money for a starting caliber QB, not many teams can do that. Has nothing to do with making Dak comfortable or not. Can't think of many if any teams with 2 starting caliber QB

This is why fans arent' GM's. Fans go on stats only.

That's not entirely true, a fan playing GM would see he was a 3rd round pick a couple years ago and decide kick the tires based just on that : ). A scout would look at the stats, then put on some film, talk to coaches, etc. The GM would listen to his scouts do some due diligence and make a decision. This is a low risk move and worth exploring to see the fit.

I mean if he was a 3rd round pick 2 years ago he's gotta be more capable than Rush? ;)

Looks like he might have just fallen through the cracks. That PED charge was kind of bogus, not even on the ncaa banned list. Then the Florida coach runs him off and he loses a year transferring to West Virginia. Next thing he gets drafted right before the pandemic.

It looks like he has a big arm. Maybe his got a bit of a long throw and not the quickest release but he looks good.

I have no issue with the move seeing if he's a fit. But for those with backup concerns, it doesn't address much. I get that most rookies go through ups and downs, he deserves a shot, just not banking on much. Low risk move maybe he turns into a capable backup.

Not sure where this is coming from. I support the team getting him. I was responding to the guy who listed his stats.

Always good to have a young QB on the roster or practice squad.

He could be a backup, but that's his ceiling.
Remember, he was there when the Panthers let Newton walk. They brought in Teddy Bridgewater.
Bridgewater left, Grier was there, and they went out and got Darnold.

He was/is never going to be a starter.

When you look at it Reid Sinnitt MIA was probably the best backup in preseason. Miami will bring him back if he's not claimed off waivers. (And some think Belichick may jump on that).
Kyle Lauletta (171 yard a game) and Shane Buchele (93.3QBR) had better preseasons.
Gilbert had 75 yards a game compared to Grier's 74.....

Jerry jumped on the first shiny coin in his pocket when he should have looked for other shiny coins.
In any case we know who the backup to the backup will be.

Just defending my GM prowess, lol. I don't have an issue with the acquisition either. I was just having a little fun on the claim.

If you want to like this move don't look at his pro stats.

Sometimes stats lie. Let's hope this is one of those cases. The sample size is so small.

First thing I did was look at his pro stats, and its true they aren't impressive at all, but I had the same thought about small sample size. College stats are good for whatever that's worth.

First and only time I rode a horse, I wore a football helmet. Their rules. I had to follow. I pretended I was Jack Nicholson in Easy Rider. Good thing because that stupid horse went straight for the tree branches.

1000 generations of farmers, then city boy dogberry shows up. Me on a horse, DEVO in action.

Hell about a third of the teams don't even have one..
