Corey Proctor,B. Carpenter and Pat Mcquestian, making the final 53 is a reckless joke.

A cowboy fan would have known how to spell McQuistan.

BS. Jerry has put together one of the best rosters in the league... and Phillips has always been a terrific judge of defensive talent. Not just here, but everywhere he's ever been.

Jerry has made plenty of mistakes but the Cowboys have gotten their act together when it comes to personnel.

garcia instantly bolsters their offense to top 20 maybe even top 15. HUGE upgrade. i only hope they keep him as a backup the entire year. they have been a respectable team with absolutely no qb help for awhile now.

Their? Shouldn't that be we? I mean... you are a skins fan afterall.

Garcia would be an upgrade over Campbell... but I don't think anyone would be scared of that offense, no matter what.

Not to mention Cory and Procter.

Yep. I don't know why he even tries to act like he's fooling anyone into thinking he's an actual Cowboy fan.

He hasn't fooled anyone in a long, long time. It is really shocking that he talks bad about the Dallas roster when his is a Washington or Philly fan.

Did it occur to anyone that Proctor could just be serving as a "placecard" for the Brewster kid when he comes off of the PUP list? I mean someone is going to have to be released and it would make sense that it's someone on the OL. By that time the club should have a better feel for what Preston can do at the center position.

He is a pretty expense "placecard" if that's the case.

Nice terminology "placecard".

And yeah, that's what I was thinking too.

Except I was thinking that McQ was Brewster's placecard considering their respective positions and Procter might be the placecard for Bright making it to the practice squad.

Proctor knows the line-calls.

In a few weeks, Preston may have it down, but not after a couple weeks.

Tough to blame Jerry for guys getting hurt.

I do wish either or both of the kids from Cincy would have panned out and made the final roster, but at this juncture they'll probably end up on the practice squad.

Maybe, but I still think that Procter is gone before his $1.5 million is guaranteed.

I'd take the chance that Gurode would stay healthy until Preston gets up to speed.

Most of these picks were reaches in the first place. Injuries have nothing to do w/ it. Who has stood out so far in your mind?

I remember Ciskowski set the bar pretty low for this draft, must have thought it was weak to start with.

After draft day (I think), his quote was like: If three years down the road we have a couple of guys from this draft that are helping us, it was a successful draft.

I thought, man that's not too optimistic ... considering our big haul ...

I still wonder if Jerry tried to trade some picks into next year's draft, I never heard. Belichick sure was able to do it ...

I think Butler has done well.

The kicker is proving his worth.

Then we have a group that have been hurt, who no one, including you or I can grade for at least a year.

The two disappointments were the Cincy kids. And most experts thought Mickens was a steal.

Most analysts thought the 2009 draft was weak, if I remember correctly.

Obviously, a guy like Max Unger would have been nice, but after he was gone, I sorta liked their approach. I think they drafted smart players who were team leaders, team captains ... guys who love the game.

The problem is the injuries.

It wouldn't surprise me that in two years, Jason Williams and Robert Brewster would be starting; and Brandon Williams, Michael Hamlin, John Phillips, Kevin Ogletree, Stephen Hodge and Victor Butler were important players on the roster.

That's a nice group of guys who were very productive in college. Give 'em a couple of years.

Post mortem.

I remember Campo arguing in the war room for Mickens, and he was probably behind the D. Smith pick somehow.

Looks like Campo ain't such a good judge of talent. Maybe M. Hamlin will save the day ...

Seriously.

I hope we aren't back to the days post-Jimmy where the team hasn't figured out which scouts or coaches are over- or under-enthusiastic about players and get swayed by one guy's opinion.

Probably not, because I'm very happy with Ciskowski's work. But when I suspect Campo is involved I have to wonder.

I think you may be right, and I read something that says you could be right.

If it was me, though. He would have been gone many months ago. Seriously, I would have cut him loose and told my scouts to either draft me a guy or get someone off another team's practice squad. I mean, that is where Proctor came from to begin with.

Just because he "knows" what to do, doesn't mean he should get a free default pass to stay on the team until a replacement is found. He has to be able to do it, and he has proven to be a threat to the franchise's health, and that franchise is Tony Romo.

The same goes for Pat McQuistan, too.

That's the thing.

These scouts put in months and months of evaluating these guys, and I don't like the idea that an assistant coach can be in the war room and override months of careful evaluation.

I had the opportunity to visit with Ciskowski back in June and he said their system now is very good ... the scouts all cross-check each other so every guy has multiple grades. If there is a big difference of opinion on a player, the go back and try to figure out why.

Anyway, when it came to talking about the war room on draft day, he was sort of tight-lipped and I could tell that's a touchy subject. I asked him what his role is in the war room on draft day, he said to bascially "sit there and not say anything."
