Lol, no you don't have to look at who else is available. I don't care one bit if there was only going to be DEs at 60 with 3rd Rd grades. You don't have to take one there either. And if you did force the pick on a 3rd Rd DE at 60 over a 2nd Rd CB, explain exactly how that's different than than forcing a 2nd Rd DE over a 1st Rd CB? In either case they are reaching by a full Rd grade. It's ok to reach like that in the 1st, but suddenly in the 2nd it's ok?

Its all moot at this point...............Taco is now a Cowboy and we just have to hope for the best.

I really don't even have a problem with Taco as a pick. He's a safe bet to be a solid or better player. I just hate how they went about doing it though.

Because the DE's available at our 2nd round pick probably have 3rd or 4th round grades, and there will be plenty of CBs with second round grades. The "best player available" approach is not a zero sum game. Just as you don't take a QB who might be BPA if you have one, sometimes you factor in what will be available with your later picks. What if we took that CB at 18? And the BPA at 60 was also a CB? Should we force and take another CB? I wish the BPA advocates could appreciate that that BPA is a goal, but that teams draft "horizontally" and "vertically", meaning they rank players from top to bottom (vertically) and also by position (horizontally). So, when the horizontal board is thin at a position of need (DE) but thick at another position of need (CB), the player at the thin position may be the pick, even if the player at thick position is rated higher on the vertical board.

I understand the theory. I just don't like the reasoning. What it is saying is we reached for need. That's really all that needs to be said.

It is how you end up with two lesser players. We could really use two stud CBs out of this draft. Better to end up with two stud corners than a DE that busts and a second round corner.

I hope this works out well for us. I will be rooting for Taco to set the world on fire. I just hate the reach.

You obviously don't understand how the ranking works. If my picks 1-18 are considered 1st rounders and picks 19-36 are 2nd rounders and I decide to take #19 over #18 because there are way more people that play #18 position available to me tomorrow then that makes perfect sense. You're calling it a full round when the difference literally can be as close as 1-4 spots

Spots mean absolutely nothing.

When you take one the two best players left on your board, I wouldnt say that's really forcing a pick.

Plus, Stephen did not say that in the Presser anyway. They made that assumption.

Lol okay coach Madden
They are graded individually as players. There's a reason there's always less than 20 players graded in the first. But keep thinking the only thing that differentiates player 15 from player 25 is 10 spots.

It sounded like direct quotes. "Taco wasn't a 1st Rd player" " We had a CB left with a first Rd grade". Is that not how it went?

This just sounds dumb to me, real dumb.

Why do you have to open your mouth and tell everyone who your going to draft....that's why the Falcons jumped ahead of us today.

Someone needs to tell him and Jerry to shut up. Its like playing poker while showing your hand. Now someone might jump us tomorrow for a CB, cause they know exactly what we will do.

Dumb, don't have as big of a problem with Taco, but that is dumb. Most teams, you have a general idea maybe, but not us, we tell everything like idiots.

Hahaha it's so true. They love telegraphing their picks.

It's fun for us fans, but when other teams snipe your guys a pick or two before you. Then it's not funny anymore.

No. He didnt say that.
He said they had 18 with true 1st round grades and (even though 32 players had been picked already) they still had one remaining going into tomorrow.

He then discussed how there were a ton of good corners left for tomorrow and they liked their odds of getting one.

No mention of where they Taco rated in the press conference.
Helman and Moore are connecting dots. Unless they later had a private interview...which would be very surprising.

Okay again the FO knows more than me and you combined and they have earned my trust in 1st round picks so I'm happy and waiting for him to BEAST out. You can do and think whatever you want

your right. Dallas is easy target. It shows Jerry is more intrigued with transparency then having a competitive edge. I think every draft analyst pretty much said before the draft that a team would jump ahead of Jerry and do this. Almost comical when it happened right on queue.

David Moore is not really some insider.
He is saying what his sources passed on to him.
All speculation...maybe educated speculation, but speculation...that has been wrong often.
Stephen did not tell him this.

He probably should clarify , "per sources"

I did think it was weird that Stephen told the reporters that we still had one player left with a top 18 grade. He did not say who it was though. That is per sources, not from Stephen or Jerry in tne presser.
