Cowboys give Glenn ultimatum - 6/2/08

That knee of Glenn's held this team hostage last year... I don't want to see that happen two years in a row.

On the nosey!

People talk about Glenn at "less than 100%".

How about the Glenn who couldn't play at all last year?

The Glenn who rehabbed for an entire season and came back to deliver nothing?

Anyone want a repeat of that? Because that's what you'll likely get from a guy with a degenrative knee condition that can not and will not get better.

Jerry, since when do you care about saving a few bucks? What are your plans if he calls your bluff? Are you really ready to roll the dice with TO, Crayton, and a bunch of maybes? What if TO jacks up his ankle or finger again? Aren't we a little closer to a championship with Glenn on the roster, even at less than full strength? This is an odd time to get "penny wise."

Another roster spot for someone who can play. As far as the "maybes"....that's really all Glenn is at this point, which is why he's being asked to sign the hedge contract. His track record on injuries has never been great, and it is suspect at best now that he'll make it through even a partial season without coming apart.

Stasheroo Can Matt Jones Play tight end?

Not in the traditnional sense, no.

He could certainly provide a matchup problem for a linebacker, but I doubt he'd give you anything as a blocker.

But Garrett's a creative guy and I think he could do a lot with a guy with Jones' size and speed.

It might be tough for a defense to cover 6'3" Owens, 6'5" Witten, 6'6" Matt Jones and 6'6" Martellus Bennett.....

Coming this summer to theater near you... Terry Glenn stars in .....................................The Glenn Ultimatum... nah I think in the end he will be making plays for us by september

The BIG PICTURE here is...

Us winning the SB is not contingent on Glenn playing.

If he wants to go along for the ride for what could be a SB victory.... he should sign or negotiate it up to about half if possible.

Maybe along the lines of a Jay Novacek......get whippedlashed alot blocking LB's.......

.....but he'd be a matchup problem for a LB or a SS from that position....as was Novacek

He's gone in Dallas..... Go get either Robert Ferguson, Chris Henry, or if he does get cut by the Jaguars Matt Jones, but Terry Glenn's days are definitely numbered......

I disagree.

It would be great to have Terry Glenn on the roster, but the Cowboys did go 12-4 last, although they came up short on winning a Playoff Game.

The Cowboys are in the same position that most other teams are in, they have 1-3 players on the roster that will determine their fate.

At some point the young and inexperienced at Wide Receiver have to actually start producing on the field.

JJ will lose Glenn - Shame
Parcells was one of the few that could get to this kid. World of talent.

JJ coming across petty over basically $1M

Great, so when do we re-hire Parcells  .

More important than the $$$ ... if he can't play, we need the roster spot.

It's not all about money. But that's how to make things happen.

Ferguson re-signed with the Vikes back in March and Henry is looking at possible prison time and another suspension.

that doesnt matter. Just sign him.

I am convinced we are signing dwight clark or jerry rice. They are retired but that doesnt matter because its june. So in June we are free to make all kinds of silly statements.

Clark or rice.

We added a loss and subtracted a win?

The gist of my argument remains the same, we don't need Terry Glenn to be successful, the Cowboys have proven it.

He could have had the microfracture surgery last year and retired, but he risked his long term health for another chance at the Superbowl. For whatever money he "stole" from Jerry last year, Jerry "stole" from Glenn on his first contract with the Cowboys. He's a warrior and a professional, and he did nothing but make huge catch after huge catch with the Cowboys. I'll be sad to see him go. Frankly, I'm surprised Jerry's making such a hardline stance over a player who has sacrificed himself so much for a chance to save 1.2 million dollars. Jerry has spent that much on long snappers. The Cowboys don't have a surefire #2 WR. If it's Superbowl or Bust in 2009, they should be keeping possibilities open, not limiting them.

oh well, sucks that Crayton becomes our #2, hopefully Stanback raises his game, and steps up, and challenges Crayton.

dropping one pass sure does negate a pretty good season otherwise for some.

we had a pretty potent offense sans glenn WITH crayton. the simple fact of the matter is we have a LOT of valid weapons now and we'll have to see how it comes together. crayton may not be a super #2, but he wasn't too bad.

except for 1 pass people will never forgive.

I was on record saying I didn't think TG would be on the team this year. I didn't see it happening this way but it doesn't surprise me.

We were able to throw the ball very well last year without him - we've got the same WR crew but the young guys all have a year more experience. Plus we'll be trying to throw to Felix Jones a good bit. I don't think that we'll miss Glenn too much.

Yep, I got the Cowboys 2007 Record wrong.

All there is left to do is to ask me what I want on my tombstone :) ?
