Cowboys going after Greg Hardy?

I want more fire, we need that pass rush!

Fire would be nice, would at least like some smoke. I haven't really heard any big time people say much about Hardy and Cowboys so I'm hesitant to believe this guy.

RKG can mean anything a coach or team wants it to mean when bringing in a player or not bringing in a player whether that be in FA or the Draft.

Guy has off the field issues but they want him......Oh We mean RKG is a guy that practices hard, plays hard and is there for his team....we did our own investigations into the off the field issues and determined that it is not the kind of guy he really is and we will have people keeping and eye on that and working with him and blah blah blah.

It means what they want it to mean.

Spot on!

I know, I am just joining the crazy energy of free agency, who knows if most of this stuff is true until they are actually signed.

This would be a nice get and really open up the draft board for the Cowboys

Yes, does make going BPA easier if that great need is not as pressing.

You would still look for more pass rush but you would not force it knowing you have some already.

Ideally, I would like to see an impact FA DE signed along with Murray and McClain. I'd prefer Dez agree to a life-time contract so more cap space becomes available without having to act on Carr.

That would be nice. They could also go the route of Hardy (impact DE), Gurley or Gordon (replaces Murray), and then draft a physical ILB like Denzel Perryman to man the middle with Lee & Hitch on the outside. Also wouldn't mind re-signing Carter (instead of McClain), and having Hitchens or Lee in the middle.

What? You would take Carter over McClain?

It seems a bit weird that Hardy hasn't been signed yet, maybe teams are waiting for some kind of word from the league office if he will be suspended at all this year... and every team except for the Cowboys is getting assurances he won't be... jk.... sorta...

Is Goodell at the trial today? Ha.

I love Ro's physical presence & the attitude he brings to the D...but do worry about his long-term viability for various reasons. Carter was seemingly coming into his own a bit...led the team in takeaways...and is more versatile (played on the weak side a bit & in the nickel). I'd take either back, and of course would be happy if both returned.

It was reported the Boys reached out to Ro. Haven't heard anything on Carter.

I have a hard time viewing takeaways as much more than statistical anomalies. I know it sounds crazy, but 5 INT seasons around the league happen all the time and never come close to being repeated by a good chunk of the players who have them. Remember when teams were fumbling their own snaps early in the 2013 season and everyone thought Kiffin was a genius?

Don't disagree. But Marinelli's defenses typically produce takeaways. His defense was 1st in the league in takeaways with the Bears in 2012. The Cowboys finished 2nd in takeaways in 2014. In a passing league, it's nice to have LB's that can cover & play the nickel...and Carter had 8 passes defensed to go along with the 5 Int's & a TD. As I mentioned, he seemed to finally be coming into his own a bit and appeared to be more comfortable in the scheme. On the flip side...Ro is an intimidator & a chief reason the finished 8th vs. the run.

IIRC, both he and Ro had game-clinching Int's...so they can of course matter depending on the situation. As mentioned, I love Ro...just worry about how long his head/heart stay in it. He seemingly liked the situation in Dallas.

Are the Cowboys sitting on their hands here or what's going on? They are a top team that is missing an elite pass rusher.
