Cowboys going after Greg Hardy?

They have 8m+ in space. Thats easily enough for his 1st year cap hit. Easily.

That money may as well be for the draft and the regular season. They can't make any free agent acquisitions without either restructuring Romo, getting Carr to agree to a pay cut (not happening soon, a la Doug Free), or signing Dez long term (also not happening soon). If you see them restructure Romo, you know they're about to make a big(ish) move.

Oh no. You reminded me of his nickname. If he is signed here, then prepare for the overused jokes.

On another note, I am somewhat surprised you are on board with this possibility.

I am on board for adding a real pass rusher.

If Charles Manson could run a 4.7, show good bend when turning the corner and had good ankle flexion, I would be in favor of signing him.

Charlie can not do that however he might manipulate some players who could to play here.... Let's put him in McClays spot.

Draft picks are 2-3m. They ARE doing something with Carr, they are just waiting until his leverage goes down. Carrs $ will pay for draft picks whether its a june 1 cut or a restructured deal.

Free agency is today, not June 1st. This whole conversation has been about signing free agents like Greg Hardy who won't be around by the time a decision on Carr's contract is made.

They dont need the $ for draft picks until after a decision on Carrs contract is made. The 8m+ they have right now is for FA exclusively unless they dont need it. There is no reason to conserve 2-3m for draft picks when they know its coming from Carr. I don't get why you're bringing Carr or Draft picks into this Hardy speculation when those issues have absolutely no baring on each other.

Sure they do. If Dallas spends all its cash now, they lose leverage in Carr negotiations because his agent knows that they need the savings to be able to operate moving forward. That's what happened with the Romo contract.

That's how you rationalized the negotiations at least. I am beginning to see that a low standard for proof is the standard for you.

Except Dallas can post June 1st cut him and Carr is screwed. He has no leverage and your fooling yourself if you think he does.

Carr's salary is about $9M/season over the next three years. If the Cowboys are trying to cut his base salary in half, then he's effectively making $2M LESS per year than Davon House (14 starts in 4 seasons). He has leverage in this market. Sure, they could wait until June to cut him out of spite, but then who's starting in his place? This team is a mess at CB and everyone knows it. In the long run, the team only saves $500K by cutting Carr this year. It's a net loss when you factor in his replacement. Let's not pretend like his agent doesn't know this. Yeah, you can pay for your 2015 draft by cutting Carr June 1st, but do model franchises really operate on the equivalent of living paycheck to paycheck?

You are being absolutely ridiculous right now.

And you are resorting to ad hominem.

I am not really talking to you as much as pointing out to everyone else in the thread where your logic is flawed. You are going to need to do better than this if you want to have credibility.

You have zero basis for your claim. There are no such quotes from Stephen, Jerry, McClay, Romo, or his agent to substantiate your claim. Requiring proof is not ridiculous.
