During the draft Broaddus said that Trai Turner was the highest guy on their board at the pick they traded away at (14) 78. Had to be him. Panthers took him two picks before the 49ers pick. 28 and 30 Then the 49ers traded the pick to Cleveland for a 4th and 6th.

Bro.... That sig pic... Just yes!

There hasnt been a Cowboy since Demarcus Ware that i've been on his wagon from the end of the nfl season for the Cowboys until Gardner. Those that have posted with me since ESPN forum days know i was touting Ware before anybody knew who he really was. Just felt strongly about Gardner and what he can do for this defensive line. I really think he will end up being a big contributor in Dallas.

Darn it. He was one of my favorite players.

I sounds like they had a deal with the 49ers but Turner was off the board before the 49ers pick.

I'm guessing they were going to trade their 2015 second for Trai Turner. I would have been fine with that.

[quotturnerago JK, post: 5544423, member: 47"]Given up a 2105 second round for a late third would have lowered my draft grade by at least a half a grade.[/quote]

Trai turner would of been worth it. He's going to be in the league a long time

My guess Trai Turner who would have been a nice get. Glad they have all picks intact for 2015 they. Got a feeling they are gonne need them.

amen to that. Frightening Dallas was already working back channels to start giving away future picks. They really must feel they are player or two away.

“We had a neat little deal set up,” he said. “It was going to be a nice pick for us, too, if it would have worked out. It’s probably not fair to share, but it was something that was real close.”

Jones said the Cowboys would have traded a future pick, not a 2013 pick.

“We got the rug pulled out from us about two picks away at the bottom of the third,” Jones said.

Pathetic.

It is not pathetic in that the trade did not happen. Proposed trades die every draft.

It is pathetic in that Jones felt compelled to reveal the planned trade, but will not say who the targeted player was. There were a number of players worthy of a bottom third round pick. Confess who that player was or do not publicly say anything at all. This half-confession is not unlike media sensationalism or Jerry Jones-inspired, cannot-shut-up-with-a-microphone-within-30-yards-of-him hype. Neither one is needed. Promote the players you DID pick. Do not announce a nameless player whom you leave people guessing who he is. It is totally unnecessary and irritating.

Had the Cowboys known that Turner would be available at 78, I wonder if they would have still made the Lawrence trade.

They tried trade back into the bottom of the third for Trai Turner so it is an interesting question.

They felt like they had to get Lawrence. Throwing away future picks would have been sickening, we are going to need them when we trade our whole draft for a QB.
