From a Dallas area magazine article.
"The Cowboys now own more than 100 Papa John’s franchises in Dallas, Austin, and Waco."
"Jerry’s real estate company, Blue Star Land LP, initiated a marketing plan for a 2,000-unit apartment complex near Austin. Jerry offered game tickets to those who signed leases and managed to get Troy Aikman out to the site, where he tossed a football around with prospects. The project leased up in no time."
"Blue Star, ...has real estate holdings in places like Allen, Prosper, and Austin..."
"Jones doesn’t talk much about his other ventures,"
The Cowboys merchandising, etc. does make most of Jerry's money, but just think how much more it would make with another title? In the mid-90's the Cowboys sold a whopping 25% of the total merchandising sales (Cowboys are the only team that is in control of 100% of it's merchandising), with the ever increasing cost of things, another title or two would bring in a tremendous amount of money. If for no other reason than that, Jerry wants to win more titles, don't ever doubt that's his prime motivation for living....
