I just cannot understand for the life of me how proven mediocre coaches like Schottenheimer keep getting jobs.

The good old boy system really works.
This is Mac wishes , jerry going along , since it will be put up or shut up time for mac.

Wilson had some great years with him - arguably Wilson was at his best when he was OC.
If that was the case , then it is good, wilson in his prime was bit better than Dak . But now we need to get younger and faster in WR corps. ( going OBJ is not the correct way )

LOL.

Low hanging fruit.

Why anyone would think they'd go big at OC. This franchise is small timey.
I honestly believe part of this is Jerry doesn't want to dole out a new contract. He wants his coaches on the same length of deal so he can just swap them out for a new staff when their deal expires instead of firing anyone and paying them for nothing.

A lot like our free agency strategy. Keep the same folks in house, don't pay for an unknown, and just hope luck bounces your way with the same people who failed the last time.

In other words, he's cheap

who are we looking at next year? this guy is good as gone since the drunk said fat mike is going to be the next Landry. If Landry was fat, walleyed, and dumb.

https://www.espn.com/nfl/player/stats/_/id/14881/russell-wilson

From 2018 to 2021 he had his highest rating with 110.9 in 2018, 40 TD passes to 13 INTs in 2020. second highest QBR since his rookie season in 2019. 2021 was a bit rough, but that Seahawks team had some injury and talent issues.

I don't think this is anywhere near as bad some do here. Much better than a lot of options out there.

If my memory serves me correctly, this place used to be an enjoyable site to frequent where you wouldn't be crucified for making a pro-Cowboy's post because most everyone was a legit fan of this team. What the heck happened here? Place went completely south the day that a former Cowboy forum was shut down and all of those peeps migrated over here. Amirite???
It has changed for sure. However, even before that we had people running off good posters like Hostile and Idgit.

It's almost unbearable. I'd leave but I have no idea where to go.

I'm betting on a return to a 2016 style offense, run first, run second and very Dak friendly EZ read offense.

Like I predicted no sought after OC would ever consider this Job esp with the QB we have under center and the circus called the Dallas Cowboys!!!
You guys are totally missing the point. No OC who has his own system, makes his own game plans, and calls his own plays would take a step backwards as essentially an assistant. This will be Mike’s offense, his adjustments all year, his game plans, and his play-calling. He hired a mature OC with tons of experience who knows him and his philosophy. Shottenheimer will help with the install, help with coaching, pay attention to details that make things work. That’s all. Why would we even try to hire an OC with his own system when it’s not his system or play-calling we care about?

Brian Shottenheimer is to Mike McCarthy as Eric Bienemy is to Andy Reid. There is no way to ever compare him to any of our past OC’s other than those when Garrett called his own plays. Maybe we will find out that he pays more attention to details and is a better teacher/coach than Kellen Moore because he’s NOT spending his time trying to be creative or innovative.

Looks like MM was setting this up from the beginning. This was going to happen irrespective.

Man, this OC sucks…

Per Jane - where are you goobers that told me those OC interviews last week were legitimate? Hahahaha

Same song and dance from this organization for 30 years - we like our guys - goes for players and coaches

Sigh… man I give up. Why can EVERYONE else see the problem except the one guy who needs to see it? You are the Dallas cowboys. You can hire almost anyone you want bc everyone has a price. And you have tons of money. And you hire a retread. It’s just disheartening. They have to start losing money soon. I don’t see how anybody would still be forking money over to these clowns

I’ll also add that I’m not passing judgment on this new offense and coaches until I see where it gets us in the playoffs. Many of you are on record many times not caring about regular season stats, rankings, or even wins because it means nothing if it’s not successful in the playoffs. Now some of you want to conveniently express how brilliant Moore was to somehow have a top 4 offense despite an awful QB, which is impossible. But suddenly you care about the regular season rankings.

I don’t care if we finish 10-11 in offense during the regular season. If we compete better and win a game in the divisional round, even if it’s 13-10, that’s a vast improvement over what we’ve seen for years of high powered offenses that petered out on the playoffs.

Cowboys should have signed Nathan Rourke as insurance for more middling play by Prescott. Opportunity missed.

I hope so. Most of these position coaches don't have a huge impact, but I do believe the QB coach does.
OMG…..how can you imagine position coaches don’t make a huge impact? Look what better coaching has done for the secondary. Look how little Leon Lett got out of anyone we’ve played at DT during his tenure. Look at the drop in OL consistency since Callahan and even Columbo. Position coaches who are top guys in this league make a huge difference and players mention their impact on their careers.
