I’m more pissed off on the interview process than anything else. The whole process was a farce. As far as Schottenheimer goes, truthfully I don’t know whether he’ll be terrible or good- it’s always a crap shoot. Listening to him speak he comes across with more confidence and aura than Kellen imo- how that translates who knows.

I’ll be rooting for him, the way the jones handled this was terrible however
The one positive I see with this is that No-Schott seems to have had a run focus in his career as a coordinator, so maybe we'll invest in improving the run game. The Joneses had devalued the run game, but I think the success of backs they could have had may make them rethink that and hiring Schottenheimer would seem indicative of it.

Who over told Jane Slater.

However I bet they forgot to say YET
Yes, at this point its chatter. Remember Machato, who is pretty reputable, was saying Moore was the front runner.

Now than any time I can remember "We dont know until we know" rings true

Is it true that Moore turned the job down? Or is that just rumor?

They wanted Mike back and did not have a Plan B. When he walked, they did not have the energy or passion for a HC search.

They do what they always do: hire for familiarity, comfort, and “continuity”

This represents the laziest, most inept hire they could make.

This organization is sinking to new depths of incompetence before our very eyes.

My expectations under McCarthy were that we should compete for the division.

My expectations now are that we hover between 7-9 wins a year. We are committed to being at best a mediocre team until the time comes the team moves on from Dak and this coaching staff.

The sad thing at that point will be Little Enos will be terrified to pay a QB again because “we tried that and it didn’t work”

A 4 year contract for this bum?

:lmao: :lmao:
The NFL standard contracts for newly hired HC, coordinators, and assistant coaches are
Head coaches ........5 years
Coordinators ..........3 years
Assistant coaches 2 years

Giving him 4 years is min above the new DC's 3 years

Man, this is depressing.

I'm not going to count on it, but maybe, just maybe, he's a much, Much, MUCH better HC than he has been at any other coaching position he's held.

Doubt it, but I guess we will find out.

Possibly the most uninspiring head coaching hire in franchise history. It sucks being a Cowboys fan.

Already done that. Wore my jersey to the bar for games every week. Didn't wear them for one game. Next year, I will likely barely even go to the bar to watch the game.
Silver lining...

I felt worse about Campo, but yeah, this is up there. Maybe it will turn out great, but we have no reason to feel good about it.

What young head coach is going to try and make a name for himself here? With this team building philosophy, he'll just fail, and probably not get another chance. Not one that has a choice.

Jane Slater reported the last time his name ever came as a possible HC candidate was 15 years ago. I don’t think he even got an interview. Lol It’s going to be funny watching Jerry try and sell him on the fan base at the press conference.

I mean how do you hire shottenhimmler when you pretty much demoted him and took away his play calling duties in the first place.
Schottenheimer never called plays for Dallas. But, I share your overall opinion: how do you even hire the guy?
