Dak Prescott shares some blame for the hiring of this garbage. Cant believe Dak wanted this garbage as head coach.
Dak, with what he's being paid, can affirm ANY Jerry Jones hire.

I could get anyone here to do the same.

Everyone has a "price."

Here's what I say about Jerry Jones Kurtz:

There's a conflict in every human heart, between the rational and irrational, between good and evil. And good does not always triumph. Sometimes, the dark side overcomes what Lincoln called the better angels of our nature. Every man has got a breaking point. You and I have. Jerry Jones has reached his. And very obviously, he has gone insane.

He's out there operating without any decent restraint, totally beyond the pale of any acceptable GM conduct. And he is still in the field commanding staff.

Honesty, rather him than Moore
Moore has coached better offenses of late than No-Schott has, so I'd take Moore for that reason. But neither has been a head coach, so who knows?

Schottenheimer has had opportunities to be a head coach before, so it isn't like he wasn't a hot name at one point. In 2007, he removed his name from consideration for the Dolphins' HC spot and he interviewed for the Jets' job (when he was OC there) in 2008. In 2010, he turned down an interview to be HC of the Bills.

After he was hired as Seattle's OC in 2018, the Seahawks led the league in rushing that year and Russell Wilson had his top QB rating. Similar to Kellen here, he was let go in Seattle after a wild-card loss with "philosophical differences" being given as a reason. That year, the Seahawks had set a franchise record for points scored.

In 2009 & 10 the Jets were top 5 rushing team as they went to the AFC championship game under Rex Ryan with Mark Sanchez at QB .

The OC was Schottenheimer . Expect the Cowboys to resign Dowdle & spend at least a 3rd rounder or perhaps higher for a complimentary back and emphasis a healthy rushing attack to help Dak.

Cowboys confirm laughingstock status with despicable Brian Schottenheimer hire

They knew they could be players in the 2025 coaching cycle the second they decided last January to bring McCarthy back for the final year of his contract. It is malpractice in every sense of the word that Jones only interviewed Schottenheimer, Moore, Robert Saleh and Leslie Frazier.

By dragging his feet with McCarthy, Jones screwed himself out of interviewing Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn, arguably the two hottest names of this coaching pool. Johnson, who was hired by the Bears, and Glenn, who got the Jets job, are both perceived as home-run hires. The Cowboys seemingly did not have a single conversation with either of them. That is the inaction of a laughingstock organization.

I am really impressed!!!!! (sarcasm)

I felt worse about Campo, but yeah, this is up there. Maybe it will turn out great, but we have no reason to feel good about it.
At least Campo was a successful DC and part of our championship teams.

That’s the main problem, he will most likely be the OC and call plays……just like the ones this past season. To make this hire palpable, a new, innovative OC needs to come in and take control and let Shott walk around. But, doubt that happens….
This is what I just dont get, how do you promote the OC who presided over the 21st ranked offense to HC???

At least Moore and even freaking Garrett before him both presided over #1 ranked offenses, but Schotty even sucks at that too.

There is absolutely no logical way anybody can justify this hire, that is why you are seeing near universal outrage from not only the fans but media outlets as well.

Yes, they need to do all they can to take the ball out of the hands of the leagues highest paid player.

I don't care for the hire but I'm willing to open.......from everything I have heard his offense could be very similar to his dad's Martyball......run-first offense with min mistakes and strong defense. It's not really a bad thing, in fact, it's probably best for Dak ( takes the bell out his hands a bit) but you better have a strong defense.

Coaching philosophy and legacy

[edit]
During his head coaching tenure, Schottenheimer's coaching strategy became known as Martyball. It emphasized a strong running game, a passing game that limited turnovers, and an aggressive defense. A conservative style, it was criticized for its blandness and it prevented Schottenheimer from winning big games, because he consistently played not to lose.[3][63][64] While Schottenheimer's teams won eight division titles and made the playoffs 13 times in his 21 seasons, they never reached the Super Bowl. His three AFC championship game appearances all ended in defeat and after losing his third AFC Championship, Schottenheimer's final five playoff runs resulted in first-round exits for his teams.[63][65][40]
