Don't do it. You will regret it. They are not uniquely structured so they get no distinct advantages and they don't draft well all of the time.Guys at work keep trying to convert me to be a Chiefs fan - they are getting close. Been a Cowboys fan since early 70's - I swear 2024 was the absolute worst season I can remember, and very embarrassing as a Cowboys fan. You can't make this shyt up. The worse records in the past were mostly due to just having a poor roster on the field. This past year, we witnessed a totally discombobulated turd of management try to squeeze out sideways.
To quote Thanos. If you consider failure as experienceGood pedigree and a lot of experience. That's all I got.
(I'm sure this is getting discussed in about a half dozen different thread by now, but it would seem to deserve it's own BREAKING NEWS thread, no?)

modern football has changed and we're one of the few teams to not notice, or not care.Running the ball to set up the pass . Could be 50 yrs ago . It’s his philosophy.

That would be all well and good if we actually had a front office with a plan/vision that could build it back. But they can't. It starts with the QB. The last nearly 20 years, Romo/Dak were never on the roster to be the starters. They fell into those. Before then, they got the corpses of Bledsoe and Testaverde. Drafted some god awful QBs before that. Between Aikman and Romo, was some Cleveland Browns level of who's who of junk. I don't trust them to find a QB of quality.jerry wants to tank next season, i got it .
They also have a QB who can threaten the defense with run or pass. We've got Dak Bledsoe back there. We need to do more for this offense than simply 'run the ball', and Schotty is not known for his modern, innovative schemes. The opposite actually. You can’t ask 4 to carry the offense totally . I noticed the Eagles run the football . Bills have James Cook to do damage . The more effective your running the ball you have the clock ticking and your avoiding three and outs and a dog tired defense collapsing .
Right. I hope that the focus in this draft is running game and defense. We need a No. 2 receiver, but I hope we get a veteran for that role. Other than that, get some DLs and an RB with the first three picks, and add a bunch more defenders with the back half of the draft. I might even draft two RBs, depending on whether Dowdle comes back, but I'd rather re-sign Dowdle to be part of the RB rotation and use one pick on a QB to groom.I don't care for the hire but I'm willing to open.......from everything I have heard his offense could be very similar to his dad's Martyball......run-first offense with min mistakes and strong defense. It's not really a bad thing, in fact, it's probably best for Dak ( takes the bell out his hands a bit) but you better have a strong defense.
Coaching philosophy and legacy
[edit]
During his head coaching tenure, Schottenheimer's coaching strategy became known as Martyball. It emphasized a strong running game, a passing game that limited turnovers, and an aggressive defense. A conservative style, it was criticized for its blandness and it prevented Schottenheimer from winning big games, because he consistently played not to lose.[3][63][64] While Schottenheimer's teams won eight division titles and made the playoffs 13 times in his 21 seasons, they never reached the Super Bowl. His three AFC championship game appearances all ended in defeat and after losing his third AFC Championship, Schottenheimer's final five playoff runs resulted in first-round exits for his teams.[63][65][40]
Yep said the same thing.......as much as he likes to run the ball, would not surprise me at all if they drafted two RBs. One within top 3 and another one with a late pick.I might even draft two RBs, depending on whether Dowdle comes back,

Jerry operates the team on the same premise of the movie risky business no guilt no fear and sometimes you just got to say what the........I suppose it's not the failure, it's the lack of ANY forethought/planning on how to rectify the problem.....just keep on rolling on. Indeed, 12 months ago was the ideal time to put the coaching players on notice that change was potentially coming ....or even go and trade anyone that would bring back something of worth, and bag a start again amount of draft resource......we couldnt even reset properly. Is it back to the 1000 cuts or one (two at most) disastrous seasons.
