So then based on this thread the question becomes a simple one: what happens if this season ends like last season and Dallas fails to get to the NFC Championship or Super Bowl? Does Dallas say it's time to move on from MM? Do they say it's time to move on from Dak?
No, that wasn’t my intention of championship or bust. It’s not just about this season . It’s about our ongoing historic futility in the playoffs of not reaching at least a championship game.

You’d think after our first consecutive 12 win playoff seasons since the 90’s would be enough to hype and build a renewed hope but fans were very frustrated after bowing out early again in the playoffs.

The Cowboys set new futility marks with longest playoff stretch ( 12 appearances) without a championship appearance and most divisional playoff appearances without a championship appearance. It’s now the longest drought in NFL history.

The Cowboys are now in a championship appearance mode or bust. And Jethro Jone$ appears to be listening to the outcry from fans . Well except for removing the oldest GM in NFL history , he is making some noise in FA . He even released Elliott.

Thus far he’s basically making some trades and contract moves most of his hardened critics would support. This is what our dysfunctional ownership does best. He listens to the outcry’s to re-embrace a frustrated and disillusioned fanbase . Except perhaps for the most important move needed.
Wait...how? Because we signed two 30 year old players padt their prime? Names from the past? And resigned LVE a guy half this board didn't want? And franchised a RB that has broken leg and never had carried the load?

Where are DEs? Or DTs? Or high end LBs? We also lost our starting TE...

Sorry we filled some holes with 2nd rate players. They maybe better than what we had but not greatly. I don't see championship team yet

Evidence?

a) Jones stating publicly his fans wanted upgrades at corner and wide receiver before trading for both.
b) Jones commenting on fans' public displays of negativity pushing him to 'look harder' at his decision-making. And then taking steps to lessen or eliminate the directed negativity for that reason.

Those are only two possible examples of tangible action and reaction. Your perspective is imagined projection onto what he has actually done. In other words, you have reached for what is not there.

In-stadium fan booing of Prescott early last season has been the only tangible and legitimate causal evidence that can be suggested as a possible attributable motivational factor for Jones. From a logical perspective, it would be extremely difficult tying that type of circumstance with anything Jones has done this offseason. In fact, in relation to your 'perspective of public outcry', Jones would have reacted by making free agency moves in regards to the quarterback position. The only quantifiable acquisition Jones has made for position (so far) was bringing back Rush for ANOTHER go-round. That particularly tiny but documented 'public outcry' was left unaddressed by Jones.

It is alright to hope for something. It is illogical to substantiate something that does not exist no matter how often it is presented into conversation. First, real public outcry must be definable--not imagined. Second, Jones must be observed closely to determine whether any public outcry actually makes him do anything as a result.

At the very least, can one example of establish 'public outcry' be provided? Perhaps then it can be logically debated as anything Jones has been compelled to do during the past few weeks.

I mean Jerry hasn't hired a real GM yet. That's what we really need. Jerry doesn't care about the fans. He probably sees that the NFC is going to be really weak again this year and acted accordingly. Good for us but doubt if anything is really going to change.

The question is will y'all have another meltdown if the Cowboys don't reach at least the NFC Championship Game during this upcoming 2023 Season?

There is still a chance they extend dak before season starts. If they do that , they cant move on from him.
Is mike on last year of his contract?
If so then this might be a prove it year, and they gave him full control over the offense ,so he has to show results.
If he doesnt then they might move on from him.

If they were to lose like this season with dak having bad game , and they dont extend him, it is possible they move on,
but I dont know because they pushed all the $ into 24 for him, so I dont know how they could deal with owing him so much in 24.

We haven't made a single move that suggests we want to do anything more than what we've been doing, which is compete for an NFC East title.

Jerry probably sees this as now I can do it !!
But new teams tend to pop up each season, and do better than expected.
you cant assume nfc will be as weak as it was last year.

It may be but I think 2-3 teams will rise up, like giants, seattle, Detroit, maybe some others.
But as it stands, Phil and SF are the teams dallas has to be able to beat.

I wonder what GB will do at qb, will they go with love or draft one, or get a vet??
Minn was a weird team last year, was it the new hc, or the players? They either played great or awful.

Rams will have stafford back I assume, so can they bounce back??

Jerry is making more moves than usual, still being cheap lol, but is doing something.
I think all the talk about risk taking got to him, so this is him and his boy taking risks ! lol

Most likely. Last season we were winning games with a back up and some were very whiney. I expect more of the same. Kind of like Groundhogs Day.

The fun is also in the offseason, all the way to last game. IMO. Misery is a choice.

The Cowboys are currently in the worst playoff futility run in NFL history with 12 consecutive playoffs without a championship appearance.

The meltdown begun over 2 decades ago. The cloud over this once proud franchise isn’t about Dak, Romo, etc.. It’s about Jethro Jone$.

And why until we finally break thru getting this gigantic futility monkey off this franchises back, it will always be about championship game or bust. And we as fans should keep the pressure on the oldest active GM in NFL history.

It’s like anything in our lives. Some have greater and more positive impacts. Others don’t.

You don’t have to like every aspect or all of the moving parts to support the sum.

You can be critical and supportive all wrapped up into one. I’d be lying to myself if I wasn’t exerting my energy and time to call out and criticize the factors which I believe are preventing our franchise from more success.

This isn’t just about this year. This is about overcoming a NFL futility record in the playoffs.

IF being above average and no more is fine with you that is YOUR choice.

You are missing the point of what championship or bust represents.

Has nothing to do with our offseason except our owners agenda. It’s about our cumulative playoff record this era.
?

the team is getting younger and better. Closer to the goal. Management appears to be going for it a little more this year.
as far as whatever or bust its way too early for that kind of talk.
