I have been on the Winston bandwagon since he was released. I think this is more of a ploy to get Free to reduce his salary and if not they will release Free. Also by talking contract with Winston just makes Dallas ready after the draft if they don't take a RT early.

I would sign Winston and draft Fragel in the late 4th or 5th round.
Let Winston be the starter for the next two years and let Fragel and Parnell develop

Clabo still has a ceiling to be reached and Winston has reached his ceiling....while not likely, Free could still return his ceiling of 2010 @ RT.

Clabo>Free>Winston

With the dead money hit for cutting Free, Winston is the least of the three signings.

Pass me whatever you're smoking if you really think Free is even comparable to Winston please. Must be some really good stuff.

Does Winston have any guard experience?

I want the best five linemen on the field. If Parnell is one of those, then I'd prefer he be out there at RT and any vet brought in be able to play guard, which is one reason I prefer Clabo to Winston at this point.

I'd like Dallas to get someone who can challenge Parnell at tackle, but play guard better than what we've got if Parnell wins the job.

Clabo is 31 years old...

no, Winston has never played OG and if signed he will not be making enough to stop Parnell from winning the job

Parnell will be more than enough to keep Parnell from winning the job.

Winston could work for free (no pun intended) and be better than any options we now have.

I understand why the Mod deleted my post, but it was not a joke.
Wikipedia..actually had him listed as a Cowboy and i thought it was funny.

That was all, no.. misinformation intended. i'm a mod as well so, i understand.

Just wanted you to know..it was real and was intended for the "What?" section not the "What is this idiot trying to pull" section. thanks.

It's not just about that. It's about getting linemen who can upgrade those interior spots ... if Parnell proves he deserves to start at RT. We need to challenge him, but we also need to do everything we can to fix the interior.

IMO, Clabo would be a better choice for that reason.

Granted, I will not be upset with any upgrades we make to the offensive line.

Struggled early, then made those remarks about the Chiefs fan base. Needless to say, but he was a player Chiefs fans did not like very much.

I live in Missouri and saw the game and Winston was right. Classless to boo a hurt player.

Some people won't like this- BUT

Signing Winston means we are going to a zone scheme.

If cooper goes before 18..we probably won't take Warmack even if he is there

Callahan is a zone OL coach..

We've been moving to a zone scheme for a while.

Would be nice if we at least pretended to try to fill some of our needs before the draft instead of having to scramble for the FA leftovers after fail to do so in the draft as well

This.

Moore would be a nice addition and an immediate starter. This would give the Cowboys flexibility with their #1 so they could add some badly needed youth to the d-line or at safety. Given the outcome of the 1st round, the second round could produce an offensive tackle.

Adding more ammunition to the o-line now would be wise, IMO.

“@GordBerl: @BryanBroaddus any truth to rumours of #cowboys trying to sign Eric Winston?” My sources said not at this time.

Winston would take a great pride in protecting Romo.

Honestly, if there is a Cowboy football god. He will shine a light into Jerry's brain, and we will end up with Winston.

Or at least Moore. SOMEONE.

So much so that we decided to sign Livings and Berny to play OG right?
